- And as previously stated, the single player stories vary pretty drastically in terms of quality, with some being downright boring and others being fairly compelling. Those who have no interest in the single player may want to hold off a bit on Soulcalibur 6, but everyone else will find a high quality fighting game with a fantastic roster of characters and smooth, consistently exciting action.
Dalton Cooper · Oct 30, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Overall Bandai Namco did a fantastic job resurrecting the Soulcalibur franchise with the 6th version. Finally something other then Tekken or Mortal Kombat on PC. SoulCalibur VI is a fantastic addition to the series that's made it the best it's been in years. It's also great that Bandai Namco finally brought Soulcalibur to PC after all these years. Be warned though, some people have been having too much fun with the male genitalia on the crazily in-depth character creator...
Vicken B · Oct 28, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Soulcalibur VI is a great way to bring back the franchise. There is a ton of content to be found and outside of a few omissions, the roster is great. Character creation leaves the door open for plenty of interesting designs. The Xbox One version had a few loading hitches and issues, but it never hindered my enjoyment. For anyone who grew up playing the original in dorms with friends, this is the first entry to capture that magic in years. The soul still burns, and it burns hot.
Ken McKown · Oct 26, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Soulcalibur VI revitalizes the once great franchise and returns it to the glory days of the first couple entries. The single player modes are loaded with gameplay and story content to provide hours of entertainment, with the exploration and RPG mechanics encouraging players to continue the game session in search of new and more powerful weapons.
Chris Shive · Oct 26, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This is where you see the strangest player-made custom characters. All characters have to adhere to one of the main roster characters’ movesets, but it’s still amusing to see a man with a giant horse head wielding Geralt’s steel and silver swords. It sums up Soulcalibur’s appeal perfectly. It can be dumb and, in singleplayer, a little dull, but the fights are always fun and sidestepping Mitsurugi never gets old.
Tom Senior · Oct 22, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Soulcalibur VI is a solid entry in the long-running fighting franchise. The new Reversal Edge mechanic gives everyone a chance at a comeback, with a balanced risk that their move may backfire on the player who invoked the move. A decent campaign is paired with a beefier custom story mode, to provide for dozens of hours of gameplay, even if most of the cutscenes are more visual novel than actual cutscene.
Paulmichael Contreras · Oct 22, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - SoulCalibur VI is a fighting game that's easy to recommend. Like all the best titles in the genre, it has a low barrier to entry and high skill ceiling. For those looking to get in a few games with friends it's welcoming and immediately enjoyable. For those committed to ploughing the depths of its systems to get tournament ready, it has plenty to unpack and understand.
Tamoor Hussain · Oct 22, 2018 Reviewed onRead full review - I’m not going to lie, the Xbox One version of Soul Calibur VI feels very unpolished in some technical aspects, but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic. The amount of fun I’ve had with the character creation mode easily outshine visual hiccups, long load times and the underwhelming number of fighters and modes. Soul Calibur VI might not be the best Soul Calibur game ever released, but it’s yet another damn good fighting game by Bandai Namco.
Leo Faria · Oct 21, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - SoulCalibur VI as a fighting game is all style over substance. While it retains most of its tactical combat it is easily the most user-friendly title in the series and for some longtime fans, that may be more discouraging than a return to form.
Robert Grosso · Oct 21, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - SoulCalibur VI is an outstanding addition to this acclaimed fighting series. The use of Reversal Edge allows newcomers to jump into the series with ease while still appealing to veteran fighting gamers. The lack of a real training mode could cause players to become frustrated but this a minor issue. SoulCalibur VI is one of the strongest installments in the franchise and one that fighting gamers of all skill levels can enjoy.
