  • Almost as good as Parts 1 & 2, Part 3 suffers from having the player run around in circles quite a bit. That's by design, but it does allow late-game fatigue to develop.

  • While Sorcery! 3 may not be groundbreaking, it is an immersive experience for those who love exploring a fantasy world and having control over the shape of their adventure.

  • It must be said that there’s some loss of nostalgia in Sorcery! 3, however. It’s an amazing game that you absolutely must play, but it’s much less of a gamebook than similar apps are. If you harbor no such nostalgia for its paperback ancestors, I could almost envy you, because it’s perhaps the one shadow cast across the pages of Sorcery! 3 for me. This shadow isn’t nearly enough to spoil anyone’s enjoyment, of course, as this is once again a seminal moment in interactive fiction.

  • Overall, Sorcery! 3 is the best mobile game out there for people who like tabletop RPGs. If the thought of reading for an hour about how your character navigates through a magical forest, makes you dizzy, then it’s probably not the game for you. But, if you’re one of those people who want to try out a great tabletop RPG, but never seem to have the time, or people for that, then spending five bucks on Sorcery! is a no-brainer.

  • It’s tempting call Sorcery! 3 a singular achievement in narrative design like 80 Days before it, but that would be disingenuous given that it builds on two prequels and that the story isn’t even finished yet. As an epic, choice-driven narrative Sorcery! is only really comparable to the Mass Effect trilogy. Its prose paints a rich, vivid fantasy world and its dialogue blends challenging moral conundrums and fascinating logic puzzles so expertly that at times it’s hard to tell which is which.

  • This ensures that Sorcery! 3 feels fresh to both newcomers to the series and to those who loved the books before. It also makes Sorcery! 3 the most well-rounded of the books so far, being challenging yet consistently gripping. As before, you can still cast spells by picking out letters, and the world map is so much more gorgeous than simple text options. It’s more than just a regular interactive fiction game, and so very worthy of your attention.

  • Sorcery! 3 is easily the biggest and most robust gamebook inkle has produced to date. It offers all of the strengths of the previous chapters and builds a ton of improvements on top of them. I strongly feel you should play the previous games first just to get the proper context for this one, but it certainly stands alone better than the original book did.

  • Blowing its predecessors out of the park with its scale, length, and gimmicks - the time-twisting concept here is a far more involved and unique gimmick than Sorcery! 2's rather auxiliary 'Swindlestones' - Sorcery! 3 is a genuinely fantastic example of a classic RPG with a modern twist. Fans of the series will lap it up, and it may even provide a decent starting point for newcomers, although it's far better enjoyed as part of a tetralogy.

  • Sorcery! Part 3 is more of the same, and I’m beginning to grow tired. The episodic format works well for stories that offer more dramatic or emotional moments, and having to wait months between each part has allowed other, better, roleplaying games to steal my interest. Unless inkle plan to expand on the story of Sorcery!, Part 4 shall be the last—here’s hoping it will be worth the wait.

  • With the involved and great story, lovely art, and multiple paths and outcomes, there is little doubt as to the quality of the game. It is a wonderful story, packaged up as the third part in a much larger, epic tale. It feels a bit short at times, but makes up for it with multiple paths and several ways to handle situations.
