  • Solitairica is a solitaire-like RPG card game with roguelike elements where we clear piles of face-up cards to defeat enemies and use spell cards to protect ourselves and strategize our next move.

  • It’s been awhile since a really good one has come along, but Solitairica fits the bill quite handily. With the right mindset, the game design is perfect for a brain cleanse or to serve as a half distraction while contemplating a more complex problem. The one thing holding it back is the pacing. Were an option added to resolve this, it would be a title to reign supreme among the cat game genre.

  • I quite recommend Solitairica if you enjoy roguelikes, card games, and/or card game roguelike hybrids. I'm glad this game finally hit mobile, because it's a perfect fit for the platform, and while the solitaire core may be a bit frustrating to deal with at times, the game is overall a very strong experience.

  • Where Solitairica falters is its depth. It’s not as deep as it sounds. Once you’ve unlocked all the classes, you’ll find yourself gravitating to your favorite and mostly using the same spells repeatedly. That’s fine, but it means that Solitairica outstays its welcome eventually. There are only so many times you can play it until you feel as if you’ve had your fill and seen enough. Fortunately, that amount of content just about warrants a purchase, but you’ll burn out earlier than your initial playthroughs would have you think.

  • All in all this is an interesting and engaging smooshing together of ideas that works remarkably well. I can honestly say this is the first time I've enjoyed a game of solitaire in a good long while. There are a few niggles, but this is still a surprisingly deep mixture of genres and ideas that's well worth checking out. A bright, funny, and engaging mix of ideas that's well worth adding to your home screen.

  • Solitarica is a cute, funny card-themed roguelike with high replayability but not a lot of depth.
