- Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 goes against more mainstream military shooters but offers something more resembling an actual soldier. The planning, the gadgets, and the overall narrative come together for a more appealing tactical shooter. Moving Raven does require some work but the overall options made available to the player means you can head into a contract with everything you need. Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 provides an excellent sniper sim that gives you the chance to brutally take down targets in cinematic glory.

There’s a bit of something for everyone, as those looking to just play the missions will still make enough progress to be able to complete the game, while completionists have a lot of challenges to complete in order to see everything the game has to offer. While the controls sometimes felt a bit awkward and the AI is a bit finicky, the game is still quite appealing for shooter enthusiasts.

It offers me a buffet of different gameplay options, tech, stealth opportunities, and sniping that I love. It mixes the action stealth gameplay and long distance sniping simulation very well, and while it may not be super exciting, it gives methodical players like myself something to obsess over. With five maps, twenty-one contracts, and a ton of challenges and bounties, there is plenty of content here.

I wish Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 had a more engaging set of characters and better action combat outside the sniping mechanics, but the game is a well-made step in the right direction for the franchise.

Whatever tongue-in-cheek thing CI Games was trying to do with the sympathetic collateral victims and the casual approach to political violence totally didn’t land for me.

However, CI Games almost seem afraid of letting the game shine, all too often moving you away from sniping, an action the game is named after.

Its long range sniper shots feel genuinely satisfying to pull off, but the enemy AI is so dimwitted it almost seems cruel to kill them. With an upgrade system that’s largely skippable and mostly uninspired mission challenges, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a competent sniper sim that lacks the edge required to be a real sharpshooter.

Each area is large and fun to explore, and if you enjoy stealthy commando action combined with realistic sniping then this game is a must. Even for FPS fans, there is a lot to enjoy here with plenty of gadgets and challenges to add some replay value.
