- The view from a sniper's scope has the potential to tell a compelling and meditative story about the nature of armed conflict without the boom and bravado of video game warfare. It can also magnify issues and expose glaring flaws. In the case of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, the later is true. It's a sloppy, uninspired game at its best. At its worst, it's -- to quote Jonathan North -- "one fucking long exercise in triage."
Ray Porreca · May 09, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - There are a lot of cool ideas here; the crafting system for example is robust and interesting, but it doesn’t make up for all the issues the game has. Tie that in with the complete lack of originality and Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 feels like a half-baked attempt at the genre. It could have been great; it SHOULD have been interesting, but in the end it just ends up frustrating and disappointing.
Ken McKown · May 08, 2017 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Even with that fix though, there is not much to go on with the title. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 tries to accommodate its namesake by offering sniping, sneaking and action into one open world package, but only sniping succeeds at being any fun. With terrible combat outside of sniping, a compact open world and a lot of interesting but boring filler, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is perhaps best left alone until it sneaks its way into the bargain bin, but even then it might be hard to justify a purchase.
Robert Grosso · May 05, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - By the end of my time with Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, I was left very much disappointed. Not because of the poor story and acting, but because of the technical issues that kept the game from being anything more than mediocre. It’s a shame too; it’s a good – if not amazing – looking game, with some really fun mechanics. With either a little bit more time and/or money, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 could have been a sleeper hit. In its current state, it’s simply a sleeper miss.
Sean Mesler · May 05, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - If you’re a big fan of first-person military shooters, maybe you should give Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 a shot when you see it for sale on Black Friday. Surprisingly diverse levels are its saving grace, the artificially-colored cherry on a bland milkshake. It’s got a surprising amount of content to keep you busy and plenty of enemy camps to go to town on. Just don’t go in expecting anything more than another forgettable first-person shooter.
Jeremy Johnson · May 04, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a mediocre shooter, elevated only by its smooth shooting controls and let down by its lackluster gameplay, boring open world, terrible writing, frequent crashes, bugs and performance issues. If you're a tactical shooter junkie like me there's some substance here, but there's better, more stable products out there that will respect your time a helluva lot more.
Nick Monahan · May 03, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - When it works, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 has its moments where it completely engrosses you. But it’s not long before it violently and literally shoves you out because of poor optimization, heavy frame stuttering, audio sync issues, and crashes.
Daniel R. Miller · May 01, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is filled with unforgivable load times, piss poor visuals, and gunplay that is better in nearly every other military shooter. From top to bottom, it’s an uninspired and technical mess. Many of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3’s issues could have been looked over maybe five years ago, but not in 2017.
Logan Moore · Apr 30, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Long load screens and a very cookie cutter narrative hold SGW3 back from greatness, but there’s no denying that this installment in the shooter franchise has brought the series forward quite a few steps. The game provides plenty of carrots for players to chase with weapon, health, and skill unlocks, upgrades, and customizations and gamers who are willing to overlook a few flaws will find a challenging shooter with some very smart level design.
Denny Connolly · Apr 28, 2017 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is by no means a great game, though its value is raised by short and varied missions, fun action elements, and an ability to make me feel like a legit action hero. Regardless of how much it borrows from other games, I can’t deny that I had a good time blowing through missions and enemy troops. However, the poor graphics and technical issues like long loading times and crashes occasionally ruined the fun. And, minus any sort of multiplayer, there’s not a lot of reason to go back.
