The remaster portion looks good. The levels and characters have received some nice texture work and the resolution has been updated. The game still has some drab colors spread throughout, but it works for the time. Rebellion has even gone back and added a photo mode with all the usual bells and whistles. This is a nice package of one of the better sniper games ever made.Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a nice throwback in the series. While it is more linear than its follow-ups it still packs a visceral punch worth checking out.

  • There are in-game achievements to unlock that match other consoles, and a frame-by-frame Photo Mode for those that enjoy taking more dynamic-looking screenshots. There’s also all the downloadable content that was previously released, adding four new campaign missions – with one even tasking you to assassinate Adolf Hitler. And then, hidden away in the Controls options, there’s the chance to use motion controls that, while optional, some will like to use to lend added precision.

  • Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is unfortunately not the best installment in the series despite offering a full suite of features including a photo mode. The slow motion x-ray shots are its saving grace, while the clunky combat, poor level design, lack of auto-save, and flat moments constantly remind you of a mediocre title.

  • There isn’t anything really bad about Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, but there also isn’t anything that’s particularly good either. The Remastered port itself is underwhelming, so I don’t think there’s much reason for fans of the series to take the opportunity to relive their memories of the original. Newcomers wouldn’t be making a mistake to pick up this game, but I can’t think of anything in the game that’s really worth going out of your way to check out.

  • But for those that have never played Sniper Elite V2, this is the perfect way to experience a classic, blemishes and all. Remastered is a throwback. Having read forums and conjecture on social media, I cannot stress enough this is a remaster — not a remake. What was "wrong" with the original Sniper V2 is still "wrong" here. It doesn't have the quality of life improvements we've come to expect of third-person shooters — or even the Sniper series after games like SE3 and SE4.

  • Sniper Elite V2 Remastered undoubtedly feels old. And from time to time you encounter the odd issue that could do with being polished out. But it doesn’t stop the game from being engaging. There are some interesting situations to find yourself in as you battle your way through its campaign, which is enjoyably challenging. And the X-ray kill cam is simply fantastic as always. Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is far from being the best Sniper Elite game you can play right now, but it’s still worth your time if you want to see bullets travel through bodies in gory detail.

  • Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a decent package, and while it does show its age in some mechanical instances, this slice of nostalgia is still a great appetizer for the next big chapter in Fairburne's European safari.

  • It’s fortunate that the series’ brutal kill-cam’s and strategic emphasis in gameplay persist here, as it’s clear that V2 Remastered is far from complete a package the “remastered” brand might suggest. Though there’s an air of nostalgia and goodwill towards Rebellion and their continued efforts to keep this IP as entertaining as it remains, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered seems primarily focused on touching up the most selective of visual and graphical assets, and little else outside of it.

  • Overlooking the occasional technical fault, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is well worth your time and attention, especially if you’re a fan of the series. The game bundles together the core experience and all its pre-existing DLC, complete with additional extras and wonderfully remastered visuals. Comparing it to its original version is truly night and day, and it remains every bit as deep, as action-packed, and as brutally delicious as it ever was.

  • Sniper Elite V2 Remastered brings a classic into the modern age. There are plenty of new bells and whistles, but the core gameplay and design remain the same. For better and worse.
