- Skyhill is a challenging and fun point-and-click adventure game with the seemingly simple premise of escaping a skyscraper during an apocalypse. A hunger meter adds an extra level of strategy as you rummage hotel rooms and sleigh grotesque mutants. It’s an atmospheric and addictive experience that’s worth checking out.
Jemma Casson · May 14, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Skyhill has an interesting premise, but its systems are ultimately too simple in design to provide any compelling choices during gameplay. The overall lack of progression or variety makes replaying it after completing it once feel pointless.
Samantha Ooi · Apr 22, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A successful run may take you no more than around two hours, but you’ll likely find yourself going back for another crack either with different perks or on a higher difficulty just to see how far down you can get. Seeing the numbers slowly tick down as I went made me truly feel like I was progressing, even as each floor was functionally identical to the last. If playing a game over and over until you’ve figured out every secret and strategy is something that you enjoy, Skyhill is one you should at least give a glance.
Joe Devader · Mar 23, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Skyhill does a good job with its simplistic foundation, offering a core experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The constant uncertainty that looms overhead together with its randomly generated content, makes for some very tense moments. There’s a few issues with the game’s unbalanced systems, but with that in mind, Skyhill still manages to remain both challenging and fun throughout.
Anthony Cole · Oct 24, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Once you've played through Skyhill, you've seen basically everything you need to see. In fact, the same criticism could be levied even if you've only experienced half of it, since there just isn't much here in general to fiddle around with after you've picked up the gist of the crafting system. But since the atmosphere and gimmick are so well implemented, that alone makes this a zombie survival game worth checking out.
Chris Carter · Sep 27, 2016 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - SKYHILL may not be the most complicated roguelike out there, but it more than makes up for that with its neat crafting system and pick-up-and-play design sensibility.
Campbell Bird · Sep 22, 2016 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Skyhill delivers an enjoyable strategy experience that is well worth picking up.
Trevor Sheridan · Sep 21, 2016 Reviewed on iOS - Skyhill wasn’t what I was expecting, which is a shame, but it’s not bad either. It’s a simplistic zombie (sort of) survival game that requires some careful planning, but doesn’t necessarily require much skill. Conversely, the atmosphere is great. Check it out if you’re looking for a survival game that’s creepy, but also a bit less involved.
Rob Rich · Sep 14, 2016 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - You can pick up various newspaper clippings, diary entries, and audio logs, but they all just seem to just confirm that, yes, there are indeed mutants here. Mutants that all seem like unimaginative rehashes of the special infected from Left 4 Dead. And that’s honestly all there is to say about Skyhill. It’s dull, repetitive, and just doesn’t offer the replayability of other rogue-likes.
Ryan Lutes · Oct 16, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Skyhill manages to be a decent stab at survivalist horror; rightfully using certain mechanics to avoid an even lesser game. It’s hard to imagine the combat working in real time due to the tiny spaces, or that if every room were visually more complex, it would lead to some tiresome pixel hunting. In a way, Skyhill is economical in what it does, even if it means being the old double-edged sword.
