Critic Reviews

  • As a rhythm game, Size DOES Matter is a fantastically competent package. Although it is a niche genre, the game couldn’t be more well crafted, fun, and difficult. Although rhythm games have some inherent problems with replayability, Size DOES Matter addresses the issues of repetition well, making it well worth picking up.

  • Still, there is a lot to be said about how well the presentation works in Size DOES Matter's favor. The crisp graphics help to enhance a player's ability to succeed, where differently sized gates have distinct colors and designs, making them easily recognizable even when on the periphery.

  • The graphics are retro in a neon-disco kind of way, and the way they coordinate with the music especially if you're acing the run is definitely addictive. It's not a brainy game, but it's learnable for sure, with much more long term potential than the recent spat of quick-fail, quick-retry casual games out there.

  • While I have issues with the rules and structure of the game, how it plays itself is rather fun: getting into a hundreds-long combo, frantically switching from one lane to another and from a smaller to bigger size feels great. It's an intense experience, and the music all feels like it fits the concept of the game, while conveying a variety of song styles. And I appreciate that this a rhythm game that is about a more 'natural' rhythm.

  • Elegant and challenging in equal measure, Size DOES Matter offers a gorgeous audiovisual experience that's great fun, but will challenge your patience just as much as your reflexes.
