  • They nail their settings, tell rich, deep stories with vibrant characters, and back all that with deep, interesting mechanics. Boston Lockdown, in comparison, is a barely functional demo. Without a solid draw, the game is pointless besides its online co-op, and even then, without a strong system of tactical play to back it, that mode is as pointless as any other. ...Shadowrun Chronicles isn't just a bad Shadowrun game. It's a bad game.

  • While Shadowrun Chronicles is far from being a horrible game, it lacks a lot of depth and ends up being a bit boring when played alone. If you have a friend or three who are interested in playing a strategy RPG together with you, or have a love of the Shadowrun universe, Shadowrun Chronicles could be far worse. If only there was a bit more polish put into the combat.

Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown has a serviceable story, but its lack of branching dialogue options and its heavy emphasis on combat render it a less satisfying experience compared to its recent Shadowrun peers. Fortunately its tactical combat shines given good co-op partners, although the weak progression options and its lackluster use of its fantasy-cyberpunk setting don’t live up to expectations.

  • I'm sure Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown will eventually get itself together and grow with new features and content. Hopefully, it can overcome its server problems before they drive away its player community. Personally, I want to stay, but this town is making it really hard to.

  • In its current state, Shadowrun Chronicles — Boston Lockdown is a perfectly adequate game. It has loads of potential, but needs more time in the oven to feel complete and worthy of your time. Its combat and story are its highlights, with the voice acting and online implementation mostly hitting the mark as well. It doesn’t deliver, however, in its customization options, interface, soundtrack and lack of overall content.

  • Dedicated Shadowrun fans will likely be disappointed at the lack of depth, and your mileage may vary in terms of the appeal of the multiplayer function, which seemingly took over some of the other more endearing aspects of the series. If you haven't played a game in the series since the SNES however, Boston Lockdown is a decent starting point, and a perfect way to re-acclimate yourself to the genre with friends. If you prefer to fly solo, just go with Shadowrun Returns instead.

  • Even without the frequent sever issues, Shadowrun Chronicles : Boston Lockdown would be hard to recommended to anyone but the most rabid fans of the setting. Even they would be better served seeking out superior adaptations. Which do exist, so it’s not like this is your only option. Lockdown commits the worst crime of all; not being terrible, but being boring. Given free reign to go wild in such a ridiculous, lively setting, it’s desperately disappointing to see such a lack of character and inventiveness in both world-building and storytelling.

  • In the end, the missions just aren’t enough to really make this stand out too strongly. They’re adding more to the game and apparently working on expanding its interface, so we’ll see how it goes. Right now, it’s a bit lacking for a forty-dollar price tag, and I recommend that players keep an eye on it to see if they expand on much-needed functionality.

Y ahora os preguntaréis, ¿Qué tiene de bueno Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown? ¿La ambientación? No. ¿La trama?
