- While a heavily niche game, Scorn executes on a type of horror that most can only superficially attempt. Pacing is an issue with several puzzles, and the gameplay on its own isn't gripping. Nonetheless, the world itself makes up for all of that, telling vague stories that both compel and repel you. Scorn is an absolute must for horror fans.

And after the art was done, they tried to place their gameplay ideas anywhere they happened to fit. The end result is a visually arresting, but haphazardly designed experience.
Graham Banas · Oct 02, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - At its heart, Scorn is a puzzle game with a clear design and structure that knew exactly what it wants to achieve and in that aspect it achieved it perfectly. It’s not a game that will please everyone, but these are the type of art games I enjoy. The weaving of the art design and puzzles is so cohesive that I could truly believe these could be part of some living alien world. Combat does drag the experience down quite a bit from the controls to the enemies, but if you’re looking for a macabre puzzle game, there aren’t many games that do it this well.
Jordan Hawes · Oct 21, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Scorn can be more described as an art piece on video game format. With a low playtime until completion and little replay value, it’s a game that can be finished in one sitting. Scorn has interesting but grotesque visuals to admire and puzzles to solve but it lacks a bit of gameplay to justify a full purchase.
Jarren Navarrete · Oct 20, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Contempt has become hostage to its concept. This is an excellent interactive artbook, which has practically no analogs. But as a game, this is still a piece product, not everyone needs a product that not everyone will appreciate.
Brau3er · Oct 19, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Even when you acquire different weapons in Scorn, you’ll still run into bothersome enemy encounters that feel unfair and a real struggle to get past. As hard as the game’s puzzles are, I likely would have enjoyed Scorn quite a bit more if the combat wasn’t so bad. Or, if the checkpoints made it easier to strategically approach the game’s combat encounters.
Morgan Shaver · Oct 17, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s a short game, so it won’t annoy you for too long. But it also ends like half the short sci-fi stories do: with a terrible twist.
Martynas Klimas · Oct 17, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Beyond its gorgeous hellscapes and inspired world-building, it’s difficult to wholeheartedly recommend Scorn unless you fully understand what you’re getting into. Conceptually, Scorn has a lot to offer – overwhelmingly so – but it also struggles to deliver on its execution.
Sam Aberdeen · Oct 17, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Scorn is an interesting game to play. Lacking any real story to follow, it instead relies on your own curiosity to see it through. You’ll be interacting with all sorts of disgusting things, and fighting off horrifying creatures, and if you’re the kind of person who can not only stomach the aesthetic, but actually enjoy it, Scorn will undoubtedly be a wonderful experience.
Shunal Doke · Oct 17, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Aesthetically disgusting, Scorn touches on several deep-seated phobias all at once, ensnaring you with its alien and disgusting universe. While the worldbuilding shines, the combat can be pure frustration. Come for the visceral stomach churn, and stick around for one of the stranger stories you’ll ever see. While the combat will frustrate, the setting is worth the fight.
