  • Wacky is the word which first comes to mind when reading about Roundabout, and it’s the lasting impression players will have even after they’ve stopped spinning. The mechanic of driving a limo which never quits revolving is utter nonsense but is actually a tremendously fun gameplay challenge. As for the FMV, it establishes the game with an entirely distinctive vibe which seems to appeal to all kinds of gamers, not just those who grew up with a Sega CDI or 3D0.

The cut scenes are truly worth the price of admission, but the game play left me a bit cold at times. The Xbox One doesn’t have nearly as many indie titles flooding its store as the PS4, so a new addition is always welcome, especially when it involves a rotating limo and FMV cut scenes to drive forward the ridiculous plot that could only make it onto a major console in this day and age.

  • What's remarkable is that No Goblin took what had all the makings of a gimmick mechanic and turned it into something that feels like a legitimately useful staple, something that requires patience and skill to figure out. Roundabout manages to be simultaneously cumbersome and stiff, and brilliant and endearing -- chances are you'll go 'round and 'round. Actually, that's precisely what you'll do.

  • No Goblin has managed to create a game that is not only funny, but also one that is full of heart and which can be genuinely touching. While Roundabout's ride is over after a few hilarious hours, there are enough collectibles and challenges to keep your attention focused on the title for much longer. If you're a fan of absurd humor, fast-paced challenging gameplay and seeing Eric Pope in a farmer outfit, then Roundabout should be the next game you purchase. It may aim to feel like a B-movie, but Roundabout is a blockbuster in terms of fun.

  • Roundabout's central premise is odd and amusing on its own, but the developers at No Goblin were smart to create something that requires genuine skill on top of the goofiness. By surrounding a game that punishes sloppiness with a delightfully sloppy narrative, they transformed a curiosity into something memorable.

  • Roundabout is short, but sweet. ...But even without the incentives to keep playing after the credits roll, Roundabout works well as a short chunk of oddbeat humor and arcade-like gameplay. It's unapologetic in its goofiness, and it tells a fun story on top of its relatively unique gameplay. Sure, you can draw comparisons to the games that inspired it, but when was the last time you played an absurdist 1970s limousine game that was this much fun?

  • Roundabout would probably work better as a PlayStation Vita game, which you could jump into for five minutes while you're riding the tube, bus, or a perpetually rotating limousine. Fortunately, the game was announced for the handheld last year, so hopefully that version still comes to fruition. On the PlayStation 4, there's definitely still fun to be found in this highly stylised game, but the novelty soon wears off if you play it in long bursts.

  • It's crazy how much effort has gone into the foundations of this tiny piece of Technicolor idiocy. It's also kind of noble, really. ...As with the flattened Hare Krishnas of the first GTA, there's no real horror to this, but rather a sweet, paintboxy thrill at the simple visual pleasure of it all. Roundabout's put a lot of effort into looking mindless, in other words. Those FMV cut-scenes may suggest a lark or a caper, but someone, somewhere, was really battling for this one.

  • Ich verstehe nicht ganz, was hier genau passiert ist. Roundabout klang vom Konzept her fantastisch.

    About the game

Roundabout is a '70s B-Movie game where you drive a constantly revolving limousine! Pick up passengers, find secret collectibles, take on dangerous missions, and fall in love in an open world puzzle adventure. Roundabout is the debut title from No Goblin, a studio founded by designers of games like Destroy All Humans!, The Gunstringer, and Rock Band!

In Roundabout, you need to pick up passengers and drive them to their destinations. The catch: your limousine is constantly spinning in circles! To move around in Roundabout, you need to time your limousine's movement with the constant rotation in order to curve around obstacles, buildings, and more.

Set in 1977, Roundabout tells the rise to fame story of Georgio Manos, arguably the world's most famous revolving chauffeur. While driving players around the town of Roundabout, players will learn about the dizzying highs, terrifying lows, and secret loves of a revolving limousine driver. You'll experience the seventies in the only authentic way possible: with full motion video set in the interior of a limousine.
