Critic Reviews
- It'd be great to see the game thrive under the lower price, and I also have hope that a smaller dedicated community can keep it alive. For now, I'm eager to see new heroes, maps, and modes, because Rocket Arena is a game that deserves to stick around. There just aren’t enough opportunities to shoot each other with rockets.
Morgan Park · Jul 31, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Rocket Arena is a fun game that offers a lot of features that players ask for all of the time in other games. You’ll have to ask yourself if you like this style of gameplay and the art style, but the game is well designed and a blast to play. If it goes free to play eventually, I think it can have sustained success.
Lance Liebl · Jul 29, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Rocket Arena has a certain innocent appeal to it that is charming. And for a few matches, that charm and creativity can be enough to carry the experience. But after a few matches, you realize that the game’s appeal can’t really extend past that initial positive impression. The repetitive gameplay and balance issues keep it from being a true contender in the crowded arena shooter genre.
Alec Benner · Jul 27, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Rocket Arena’s retro rocket romanticism aesthetics, playful music and cute and fun characters (super-freckled Rev being my favorite!) go a long way to make it easily approachable. However, despite the four main game modes, the nature of the gameplay feels limited. It’s easy to play and fun in short bursts, but that’s just it; in short bursts.
Jukka Piira · Jul 24, 2020 Reviewed on XB1 - Overall, Rocket Arena is a game that is quick, fun, and very entertaining for the few minutes that you play it. A game that I believe is best played with friends, however, can you really convince five other people to purchase this game and play it with you? I guess the only hope for that is if the game goes on sale. I do believe the game will improve further down the line when it gains more popularity but as of now, I would recommend holding off on buying it.
Leif Rey Bornales · Jul 23, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4Read full review - The gameplay is addicting even if the colourful visuals seem more directed towards kids. While Rocket Arena is a great game for adults to master, it’s the perfect game for a kid to enjoy due to the cartoon violence with a competitive edge.
Clayton Cyre · Jul 22, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Rocket Arena is a competent game with a clear sense of what a 3v3 rocket match should be from a technical perspective, but it furtively struggles to find an entertaining hook to keep players coming back. In today’s world of countless shooters, it’s destined to be forgotten.
Daniel Tack · Jul 22, 2020 Reviewed on PC - Rocket Arena's approach to being a more approachable shooter, from its colorful, whimsical characters to its forgiving rocket launcher mechanics, makes it easy to appreciate at first glance. Its frenetic mix of explosive-based shooting and easy-to-understand character abilities let you start having fun fast, but its lack of depth and uninteresting modes don't maintain the momentum.
Alessandro Barbosa · Jul 21, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Rocket Arena might have some explosive potential as a casual 3v3 competitive shooter but the bright and colorful aesthetics and gameplay where no one dies and everyone's a winner have a major clash with the game's reliance on both twitch and precision aiming.
Kai Powell · Jul 21, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - There are undoubtedly some nerfs and buffs in store for some of the heroes, and matchmaking as a whole needs to deliver more balanced play — or else the community will regularly suffer blowouts. Still, I've never seen a hero shooter so ready for players of all ages. That's an attribute in itself that stands out, and with the explosive energy of each round's colorful chaos, Rocket Arena is a blast.
