- Ride 4 is as niche as a game can get and I respect its commitment to providing enthusiasts with the most hardcore of simulated racing experiences. I expect to see fans of the franchise welcome this new entry with open arms, especially if they’re on the PlayStation 5, and dig deep into its features and collection of real-world vehicles.
Allen · Feb 03, 2021 Reviewed on PS5 - The lack of a meaningful tutorial, an aggravatingly difficult and boring campaign mode, the absence of local multiplayer, and the greedy credit system all equate to a game that feels like it was rushed for people hungry to get a next-gen motorcycle experience. RIDE 4 feels like a tech demo of the DualSense and nothing more. For an immersive racing experience on PS5, it is better to switch gears and look forward to Gran Turismo 7.
Brett Posner-Ferdman · Feb 02, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Ride 4 is not the must-own motorcycle racing game for your brand new PS5 due to its high barrier of entry and non-user friendly systems. The PS5 upgrades might be appreciated by returning fans of the last-gen version, but it doesn’t warrant the headache these races induce on the player.
Kevin Mai · Jan 21, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - RIDE 4 is the motorcycle racer for motorcycle fans. This is a double-edged sword, of course, because outside of this core audience there won’t be much pickup from non-fans. The demanding physics helps to achieve great immersion in first-person view, custom liveries can easily be crafted, and the career mode gives a nice sense of progression, even if it is very low-profile. This all adds up to a neat package that fans are sure to enjoy.
Paulmichael Contreras · Oct 16, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The real shame of RIDE 4 is that there’s the bones of a decent racing game here. It looks and sounds the part, and you can tell that there was passion put into it. There’s plenty of bikes and tracks, and they’re all lovingly rendered and animated in beautiful detail. The physics simulation is detailed and accurate, doing a great job of differentiating the various bikes and weather conditions.
Alec Benner · Oct 09, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - All in all, RIDE 4 is a jack of all trades, one where, however, neither element shines for originality or extreme polish. The driving model is satisfying enough and finds a good balance between arcade and simulation, the customization options are notable, there’s plenty of content both for single-player and online modes, and the title looks fairly good too.
Győző Baki · Oct 05, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you are all hot and bothered by the thought of tearing past some United Kingdom pastures at 240+kph on a crotch rocket with the best visuals of any two-wheeled racing game yet, RIDE 4 for PC and next-gen consoles needs to be on your shortlist. While I found the first-person cameras lead me to slower lap times, they were my preferred way to crash the bikes. I’ve still yet to win at the Isle of Man on a modern bike, but hopefully, that time arrives soon.
Chris Jarrard · Oct 05, 2020 Reviewed onRead full review - RIDE 4 is the best-looking bike-based racing game yet, and the visuals are backed-up by handling and physics that have been noticeably fine-tuned. This is about as good as it gets for those who like donning virtual leather and tearing up a track on just two wheels, providing they’re not too fussed about human competition.
Richard Seagrave · Oct 05, 2020 Reviewed on PS5, XB1Read full review - The game neglects newcomers to the series and could have included a deep tutorial that would have allowed them to engage and further understand the layers within the mechanics. It is clear to see that Ride 4 has been designed to retain fans rather than gain new ones which is a major speedbump on its way to the finish line.
Jaz Sagoo · Oct 05, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The AI has been improved thanks to the new A.N.N.A. system, but it still isn't the most realistic and you'll find the computer trying to wipe you out for having the temerity of being where they want to be. For every negative, there are at least two positives, making this the most solid of Milestone's outings, I'd recommend it.
