  • Short and sweet as the experience may be, Rez Infinite is still a highly recommended VR game that begs repeat playthroughs, and will undoubtedly prove a dazzling experience for even the most skeptical VR critics (even the ones with potentially weak stomachs). More importantly, the PSVR2 version is undoubtedly the best, most definitive version of the cult classic game, making it one of the few unironic instances where a title truly was “ahead of its time”.

  • This is a musically driven title, and much like Tetsuya Mizuguchi's other PSVR2 title, Tetris Effect, the haptics hone in on rhythm. The headset and controllers pulsing along to the beat of a song heighten the immersion, further encasing you in this digital world. Most new elements of the title offer a massive improvement on the previous incarnation.

  • Rez Infinite is a throwback to an amazing 2001 on-rails musical shooter made fresh once again with an entirely new way to control the action. The PSVR2 version’s new features make it new and exciting again thanks to the hardware’s new features.

  • As someone who has returned to Rez nearly annually for damn near 20 years, Rez Infinite is the version I'll play. Unless I find my Trance Vibrator. Hey, can I just add a line here at the bottom of this review and say that it'd be cool if I could dig up some adapters, plug a Trance Vibrator into the USB-C port on the side of the Quest, and have it work?

  • Like its PlayStation 4 counterpart, Rez Infinite is essential for PC owners who remember the title fondly. It’s also essential for those who own a VR headset, regardless of whether or not they’ve played it before or even have an interest in shooters. When played in VR mode, Rez Infinite soon becomes one of the most compelling arguments for the existence of the format. And Area X? Well, it just gives us hope that a sequel will eventually be made that well and truly blows our tiny minds.

  • f you want to be reductive, Rez is a simple shooter with just a handful of levels. But if you want to be reductive, Rez probably isn't for you. Accept its big ideas and singular purpose, and it's like nothing else you've played. What Rez does still feels remarkable, but only if you're prepared to meet it half way.

  • Rez considers the limitations some other launch titles have tried to skirt over and provides a VR experience that just works. It’s a simple game that relies on its minimalist style to provide a thoroughly beautiful world to just fly inside of. If there’s a downside here, it’s that past the gorgeous presentation, it’s still just a straightforward targeting game. That’s not an issue for me though, because the trip is well worth it.

  • Like another rhythm game Thumper, Rez Infinite showcases the power of PSVR. While many people may look at a reboot or relaunch of a game as something lazy, Rez Infinite doesn’t fall in this category. Instead, Rez Infinite proves that the PSVR can breathe new life into old classics.

  • Playable with or without PSVR, Rez Infinite is a fantastic game that deserves a spot in your PS4 game collection regardless of whether or not you’ve played a previous version of it. Those with a PSVR headset however will find that it is transformative, taking an already euphoric experience and elevating it to the next level.

  • Anyone brand new to the game is still likely to enjoy their time thanks to the resplendent visuals and magnificent soundtrack. Gameplay was never too difficult, but now it’s even easier to keep pace with swarms of enemies thanks to motion-controlled targeting in the VR edition. Rez Infinite stands as one of the best games of the PSVR launch lineup and absolutely deserves a spot in your PS4 library.
