  Japanese action RPGs are a dime a dozen and I can say from experience that most of them are pretty average. REYNATIS is no exception. At best, REYNATIS is an okay game with a boring story but at worst, it is an excruciating experience. I’m sure my experience would’ve been smoother if I played REYNATIS on anything other than the Switch but we review Switch games here, so my hands are tied.

  All things considered, this is a pretty linear narrative-driven game with a handful of sidequests and collectibles. If you can accept the wonky pacing, rhythmic combat, and retro graphics, then you’ll have a fun time. But I’m aware that’s a big ask of some people, especially for a game released in 2024. Should you play REYNATIS? Yes. Should you buy it full-price? Probably not. Unless you’re a fan of weird but fun PS2 titles, you should wait for a sale. But when that sale comes, I do recommend you check this game out.

  Reynatis tries to tick many boxes, and in the process ends up ticking very few. Despite some strong presentation and some genuinely fantastic ideas, the execution is lacking in just about every department, with a story that goes nowhere and gameplay that’s more frustrating than fun.

  REYNATIS features some of the best combat that I've enjoyed in an action RPG. Unfortunately, outside of fighting and a few interesting moments, there really isn't much to hold your attention for long so it's best to rush towards your next thrilling encounter.

  Reynatis is a wild, chaotic mess that frequently loses sight of itself, but that’s the consequence of reaching for something different. Sometimes when people try this the ideas just don’t pan out as hoped. Reynatis is still very playable and the core gameplay is genuinely enjoyable. It might consistently fail to meet its lofty ambitions, but at least it tries, and as a work of art there is value in exploring what it does try to do.

  Reynatis is a game with ambitions. Vaulting ambitions, unfortunately. Its convoluted story, annoying combat issues, and systemic glitches will turn away all but the most devout of action- JRPG fans. But if you’re in that category and you’re up for something new, there are enough clever approaches here to make this trip to alternate Shibuya worthwhile.

  Abbiamo giocato Reynatis perché voi non siate costretti a farlo: se tra qualche mese la situazione dovesse cambiare in meglio non esiteremo a farvelo sapere, ma al momento ci sono centinaia di opere migliori su tutta la linea e su tutte le piattaforme su cui il prodotto FuRyu sbarcherà.
