- Re:Turn – One Way Trip isn’t a terribly long or frightening excursion, but those seeking a good puzzle adventure with an emotionally-rich story and a take-charge female protagonist will be happy they bought the ticket.
Kirk Hiner · Nov 10, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The occasional tedious puzzle and slow movement speed are frustrating at times but never really felt like they fully broke the experience for me. It's not perfect nor is it what I would call great, but the things it excels at lift it slightly higher than your average 2D horror game. Just not much higher.
Joe Devader · Oct 31, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Given that a sequel to this game is supposedly in the works, I haven’t given up on this series entirely—but it’s going to really have to try hard if it wants to avoid dropping the ball as many times as this game did.
Kenny McKee · Oct 28, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The story is constantly engaging and well written, complimented by some great audio work. Some minor niggles in the constant back tracking and lack of helpful direction can lead to some frustration, especially if played across a few nights, but it doesn’t take too long to get back into the swing of things really. If you’re after a solid start to the Halloween season, this comes highly recommended.
Jamie Collyer · Oct 21, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Re:Turn – One Way Trip is filled with unexpected twists and turns, satisfying jumpscares, an eerie atmosphere and a well-written story. There are some moments of awkward dialogue, but it does very little to take away from the story. Discovering what happened to the old passengers of the train and how their experiences effect the characters is good fun. It’s also terrifying, and the perfect title to pick up this Halloween.
Becca Smith · Oct 15, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Re:Turn is clearly a labor of love, but one which never decides whether it wants to be a book or a video game. By the midway point, all tension had devolved into boredom. I had explored the length of the train many more times than I ever wanted to, and decided that I wanted off.
David Harris · Oct 14, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Re:Turn - One Way Trip is enjoyable most of the time. It has a strong presentation and enjoyable puzzles, even if the game world's a bit too small for its own good and there are a few issues here and there.
Andrew Farrell · Oct 14, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I am so happy I decided to give Re:Turn – One Way Trip a shot. The bizarre combination of genres and gameplay elements was enough to pique my interest, but it delivered far more than I expected. Most of the puzzles are a lot of fun and highly diversified. The wonderfully interwoven storylines kept me captivated through to the end. If you like creepy imagery and an intriguing narrative, then you should get onboard with Re:Turn – One Way Trip.
Heidi Hawes · Oct 14, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Re:Turn – One Way Trip does a lot of things right. It uses a great story and the popular JRPG horror style from games such as Corpse Party to get up in your face. The Sound effects, the music, all of this is nicely done. The gameplay, however, seems slightly abusive as it makes you work hard to progress without actually providing you with much of a challenge. This feels like a waste of all the things that Re:Turn did great. It’s a bit like a diamond that has a piece chipped away from it, which is a shame.
Pimp Without The Pee · Oct 12, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Re:Turn - One Way Trip is pleasant to the eyes, works ok with no bugs or whatnot… and that's about it. Sadly, there's nothing good to say about it. Apart from just not being scary (like at all), and having an uninteresting story, the bulk of the experience revolves around running from A to B for about five hours, picking key items, and using them in the obvious spot. It's a fetch quest, plain and simple.
