- Everything about Psychonauts 2 is praiseworthy. I absolutely adore the first Psychonauts and consider it one of my all time favorites. Yet, somehow, this sequel not only managed to retain everything that was great about the original, but also improved upon it in every way. The sound design and graphics are better, the gameplay is smoother and offers more variety, and the level designs are expertly done. On top of all that, it touches on deeper issues with mental health and handles it in an incredibly respectful way, all while still being hilarious and delightful to play.

Delivering creative levels and imaginative boss fights along with phenomenal characters within a delightfully charming tale that has both humor and depth to it. Despite missing for so long Raz's return to the gaming world in Psychonauts 2 is one worthy of major cheer.

It’s a glorious return for the franchise, one that should keep existing fans happy while being perfectly welcoming for new players. Let’s just hope we won’t have to wait a similar amount of time for the third game.

It's so good, in fact, that we now want the original Psychonauts to be remade in this engine, with this fidelity, in order to finally do it justice. Psychonauts 2 is consistently creative, enormously fun to play, visually inventive and spectacular and spins a cracking yarn to boot.

It tells a wonderful story about how we have to learn from our mistakes and continue to grow while keeping the humor we expect from any Double Fine production. Now and then, the control scheme can be a minor pain, but most of the time, it plays like a dream with a level of polish few games launch with anymore. Psychonauts 2 is one of the best games of 2021. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait another sixteen years to team back up with the Psychonauts.

For anyone who has been hungry for a new entry in the genre, or is simply after something new and original to play, Psychonauts 2 is an easy recommendation.
