- Prune is a beautiful and minimalistic physics-based action-puzzler in which we grow trees by cutting off some of their branches so the remaining can grow faster and eventually reach the sunlight.
Alex Sem · May 05, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - t’s a very calming experience; it is almost ethereal in presentation, and somehow manages to be genteel and challenging simultaneously. It ratchets up the gameplay oh so imperceptibly, adding in new elements as it goes, and mostly disallowing for boredom to set in. It’s a safe game, bereft of in-game disturbances, and probably worth the investment its one-time $3.99 price tag calls for.
Tre Lawrence · Nov 02, 2015 Reviewed on And - It is an artsy, minimalist and accessible game for the fans of the relaxing, atmospheric and non-aggressive brain teasers. Simple game mechanics and soft ambience create an immersive spectacle that’s very comforting and positive. The replay value depends on how you take it. I still strive to grow that lush tree, but since there are no limits to perfection, I am hopelessly hooked on Prune.
Dan Vlasic · Oct 27, 2015 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - Prune is a unique experience that is absolutely worth checking out because it's special in all of the ways that most other games usually aren't. It isn't terribly long, and sometimes it can be a little frustrating to re-grow trees on some challenging levels, but the way it visually explores and unfolds narrative is amazing. This alone makes it a must play.
Campbell Bird · Aug 06, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - It's so unique that it won't appeal to all audiences. It's not particularly thrilling, but it's one that should be played at least once. You won't regret it.
Anna Grace · Jul 30, 2015 Reviewed on iOS, And - And really, Prune is a game that you must play. My review feels short, but because this is something that grows from such simple origins, of being about trimming trees with finger swipes, and it grows out into something gorgeous and complex. Simple but beautiful, and something truly unique. Play Prune.
Carter Dotson · Jul 29, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - No two trees will grow exactly the same, and in this they become less like a program we’re operating and more like a pet we’re caring for. You try your best to help it thrive, to protect it from danger, to see it grow up strong. When it falters, you feel more guilt than frustration. When it succeeds, your pride is not as a player, but as a guardian. You may have less control, but in Prune, you have much more.
Jillian Werner · Jul 27, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Prune is an awe-inspiring work of digital poetry that transcends its initial subject material to explore a much larger, much more complex theme, in an articulate and powerfully moving manner.
