- Process of Elimination was full of surprises in more ways than one. Its twists and turns make for a great murder mystery that visual novel fans will want to sink their teeth into, but the comically brief tutorial of the investigative segments may lock players out of the entire experience.

However, the characters lack fleshed-out personalities, and the lackluster audio and inconsistent visuals hurt the overall appeal. The game plays things a bit too safe with tropes that we’ve seen done before elsewhere and in this regard, some of the supposedly shocking reveals are clear from the get-go. Ultimately, Process of Elimination has enough to offer to keep it afloat, but not enough to make it a must-have title.

Despite the story’s initially weak pacing, the narrative manages to deceive you so thoroughly that you’re led into a loop you may not see coming. Similar is the overall gameloop, where the strategy segments don’t improve until you’ve spent a few hours understanding the nuanced systems.

As long as you're prepared to read a lot of text, you'll enjoy unraveling the mystery of The Quartering Duke.
