- It is short yet offers plenty of replayability as void jumping takes a lot of determination, skill and speed. It is a nod at shooters reminiscent of titles from the ‘80s and scratches that itch for something to play in bursts or put in the time to speed through in one go without the need to gamble all of your spare quarters.
Keyatta Brooks · May 01, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Post Void won’t be for everyone: you only need to look at screenshots or watch a short amount of gameplay to realize that. But for those into fast-paced retro shooters that offer a lot of challenges, it’s very easy to recommend, especially given its price. It doesn’t have complex mechanics or a deep story, but those are its strengths. This is all about offering short bouts of intense action with a style that makes you feel like you’re on a bad trip. And at that, it succeeds with gusto.
Richard Seagrave · Mar 21, 2023 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - As long as you don’t let POST VOID short out your synapses, this really is one of the truest forms of FPS gameplay. If you long for a true drop-in, drop-out FPS game and don’t mind the wavey corridors and searing color palette, there’s so much fun to be had with just a semi-procedurally generated corridor maze, some wickedly warped baddies to kill as fast as you can, and a few RNG buffs here and there.
Cory Clark · Mar 18, 2023 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Post Void is an arcade-style first-person shooter that really shoots you back in time with very ‘outdated’ graphics and simple old-school gameplay. Post Void is perfect for those who want to relive their youth with a game that resembles those they’ve played when they were young. The game plays quite well, and the skull filled with water as your life brings an extra element to the survival aspect of the game. You not only need to survive; you need to be fast as well.
Nickskuh · Sep 08, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I loved the time I spent with Post Void. But I’ll be the first to admit it’s probably not for everyone. The game’s crushing difficulty and blistering pace will likely push away casual shooter fans. But at just $3, hardcore gamers craving a unique addition to their Steam library will be hard-pressed to find a game that provides more bang for their buck than Post Void does.
Francis DiPersio · Aug 19, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Playing with an Xbox controller may not be the “purest” approach here, but it would certainly be more comfortable for me. At the end of the day, Post Void is heavy rock-and-roll, flying pixels, and laser-sharp shmup arcade mechanics distilled into a combination that equally terrifies and unsettles me. And that’s why it’s great.
Gabriel Moss · Aug 18, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I really wanted to like Post Void, as in theory it features so many elements I love. It’s fast-paced, arcadey, and completely over-the-top. With that being said, I just can’t stand playing it for more than a minute or two at a time due to its horrendous flashing effects, as well as some of its gameplay design choices. It’s just an unpleasant experience. But they, at least the soundtrack is quite good…
Leo Faria · Aug 12, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Post Void is a weird game. The micro-sessions of gameplay feel repetitive, but with such a low barrier to entry in both time and monetary investment, it almost doesn't matter. It's like YCJY took everything about a normal roguelike FPS and dialed it up to 11. Zipping around at high speeds, in your face graphics, high pressure to progress, but everything wrapped up in a 2-minute package.
Andrew Stretch · Aug 06, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Post Void lovingly pays homage to the chaotic first-person shooters of yesteryear, whilst still managing to carve out its own unique identity. Though its affinity for the past holds it back in some regards, any fan of the genre would be a fool to miss out on the adrenaline-fuelled action on offer.
Joe Wescott · Apr 27, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The visuals are amazing and accomplish what their intention was, but beware epilepsy gamers, Post Void contains flashing screens each time you die, which will be a lot. They warn the player with a very quick message in the beginning, but the flashing images begin as soon as you hit a button.
