- Pokémon was always destined to become a fully open-world game at some point, and Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet demonstrate a very good effort to achieve just that.
Jamie Ward · Dec 25, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Pokemon Scarlet/Violet has delivered the large open-world Pokemon experience we have always wanted but not at the quality level we would expect from a Pokemon game or Nintendo in general. Sloppy textures, countless bugs and a frame rate that rarely runs above the 20s show how rushed and unfinished this game is.
Dan Hastings · Dec 12, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are filled to the brim with good ideas, many of which are executed quite well, but it feels like the games could have really been something special if given a bit more time to bake.
Hayes Madsen · Dec 12, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - As you can imagine, it’s a bit hard to outright recommend Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. While there’s plenty to explore and do in Paldea, the entire experience is littered with enough technical issues and bugs to make your head spin.
Shaan Joshi · Dec 11, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - There are some genuinely jarring issues, but they don’t take away from the fact that there’s a really fun game here at its core. The storyline is better and more real than almost any Pokemon storyline I’ve seen in years.
Eric Halliday · Dec 10, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's high points are among the series's best, but its lows, spanning across both bugs and design choices, are too egregious to ignore.
Niki Fakhoori · Dec 10, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, The games are quite decent as Pokémon games, if it weren’t for some noticeable bugs and errors. I would recommend those who are loyal to the game to learn more info about what Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has to offer not only for old gamers alike but also for newcomers as well.
Conrad Huang · Dec 08, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet try to take the franchise in a new direction, but can feel empty and hollow as a result. The open world has bright spots, especially multiplayer, however a lack of care in its design leads to a game that’s haphazard and lifeless.
David Flynn · Dec 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The bland open world and technical problems weigh down what could have otherwise been another exceptional main series Pokemon game experience. The bones are here to build something special, so hopefully, future Pokemon games do the concept of open-world Pokemon game justice.
Dalton Cooper · Dec 05, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet get a lot of things right, and the gameplay loop is undeniably addictive. It’s a shame that so much of the conversation is going to revolve around its graphical and technical shortcomings; if it weren’t for that, these would be the best main series Pokemon games since HeartGold and SoulSilver on the DS.
