- Phantom Spark pares away everything inessential to provide a blissful time trial racing experience, buttressed by pleasant pastel visuals and a calming soundtrack. There are no extra bells and whistles, but what this indie racer does, it does very well.

Some of the tracks I cannot see how I can go any faster, and unless some of my online pals pick it up and get into it the online random leaderboards aren’t enough to keep me coming back.

The racing controls precisely how I'd want it and the track locations echo the zen-like sensibilities the writing wants to promote. It has a clear vision and executes on it. Unfortunately, it feels lacking in content. The main levels go by quickly and, as someone not desperate to climb leaderboards, there was very little reason for me to return. It's worth checking out if you're up for the post-game self-improvement, but I was hoping for more levels to conquer.

Give it a go if you enjoy fast-paced racing with a challenge, appreciate a focus on skill over upgrades, and love replaying tracks to shave off milliseconds.

While it doesn't have a massive amount of content, it will keep some players entertained for hours on end.

It feels refreshing as you grasp the controller to beat your best time on every try, just as the first time you booted in, which is rare for any racing game in the market.
