- Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is no doubt a great fighting game. It offers a decent story mode and a few extra bells and whistles. On top of that, a top notch netcode and this is a solid fighting game experience.
Drew Leachman · Sep 15, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - I’m also hard-pressed to recommend the title to anyone who isn’t a fighting game fan and who isn’t familiar with both Persona 3 and Persona 4. But those who happen to fall under both umbrellas will undoubtedly find an entertaining, solid fighting game experience with some surprising RPG undertones in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax!
Audra Bowling · Apr 10, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s modern port is the definitive version of the game as it provides a good amount of quality content Die-hard Persona fans and fighting game fans will undoubtedly enjoy.
Abdul Saad · Mar 30, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is fascinating. I love to play it, I love to study it, and I love to watch it. No fighting game has ever felt as good to play, in my opinion. I think the Switch port is the weakest version by default (I’ve only played this one and the PS4 release), but I’m still more than pleased with this version. The frame rate is perfect, the matches feel great to play, and the visuals are just as good as they’ve always been.
Cullen Black · Mar 23, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A good amount of characters have at least one gimmick or trick, like Ken having Kuromaru doggedly pursue his foes, or Naoto or Aegis keeping track of how many bullets they have before reloading. They even have Insta-Kill abilities, and fortunately there are both Training and Lesson modes so gamers don’t need to worry about struggling with a learning curve when learning combos or certain odd mechanics.
Camrin Santchi · Mar 22, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's fighting is still superb. The satisfaction of finally understanding a character's move pool is matched only by actually pulling them off in battle, and Golden Mode and online battles mean you get plenty of chances for both whether you're playing solo or not.
Josh Broadwell · Mar 21, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a good fighting but does suffer from a few drawbacks. It’s a good port for the PS4 and is definitely a must-buy for Persona fans. Arc System Works manages to accurately nail what a Persona fighting game should be.
Jarren Navarrete · Mar 18, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a great fighting game for the casual and hardcore crowd, with a unique cast of fighters and a ton of systems to use in combat, though a big part of its appeal will be lost on people who aren't Persona fans and who haven't experienced Persona 3 or Persona 4.
Scott Baird · Mar 18, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Meanwhile as a fan of both Persona and fighting games, I can say pretty surely I am the target audience, and Ultimax is just as good now as it was a decade ago. This is the game that solidified my faith in Arc System Works as a developer, and they’ve only proven themselves more and more in the years since. Admittedly part of me would’ve preferred a sequel that also included the cast of Persona 5, but I’m not complaining about getting a chance to revisit one of the finest fighting games I’ve ever played.
Alex Orona · Mar 17, 2022 Reviewed onRead full review - With this updated release coming to 3 of the most massive install bases in all of home gaming, it's a great opportunity for newcomers and veterans to check this game out again.
