  • Party Hard is an arcade game with a great gameplay loop, a lot of challenging levels, and some really fun mechanics to work with. The levels are intensely difficult throughout because you’re always aiming for a clean sweep to succeed. The joy that comes from success is the sign of a level well-played, one where you either planned everything perfectly or were just quick on your feet. It’s that feeling that defines Party Hard, the feeling of succeeding and wanting to try again and do even better. This is sure to hook you if you are in the mood for something a little different, and a little reticent of the days that we all used to spend chasing high scores.

  • Party Hard on the Switch is a blast to play. Even though some of the changes in the sequel make it better to play the original still holds up on its own. It’s not exactly a must-have for the system, but you could do a lot worse with a few spare minutes of your time.

  • Party Hard is a fun game that is different from many other strategy titles you might find on Switch. But that said, it can be frustratingly difficult at times. You might eliminate 48 out of 50 people in the level and get caught by the police and have to start over from the beginning. It’s not always clear whether bystanders will identify you as a murderer, and even if they don’t see you commit the deed, they can still call the cops on you.

  • Your entertainment will come from planning deadly attacks in outlandish scenarios and environments. There’s enjoyment to be had with Party Hard’s dozen or so levels, despite the game’s lack of imagination in its later stages. It’s a wacky, bloody affair that never aspires for more.

The overall presentation is well done too. It has the trappings of a fun, ridiculous game, but in the end, the game play is far too difficult and far too unforgiving for most people. Fans of hardcore stealth game like the old school Hitman titles may get a lot out of Party Hard, but players thinking this is a action title with a wild premise will be in for a frustrating time.

  • Party Hard is seemingly a patch away from being a much better game. The stealth gameplay is satisfying, but a game can’t be this difficult while also being unfair to the player. The technical issues that bring down publisher tinyBuild’s latest game are disappointing and really tarnish a solid base.

  • Party Hard is good clean fun, but that fun tends to devolve into waiting and tedium towards the end of any level. The core gameplay is an idea that can be expanded upon though, and the developer is already adding new content to the game to resolve the issue.

  • To put it simply, Party Hard captivated my interest. I loved the game’s style, its music, its gameplay, and eventually, even the hokey voice acting. Every death was a new personal challenge for me to conquer, and while the randomization wasn’t quite as great as I hoped it would be, the levels kept me thoroughly entertained. Just trust me, this is one party you don’t want to miss out on.

  • Party Hard is a very simple and fun title, but it becomes quite repetitive after a while. The randomization of levels is supposed to help with that, but there’s simply not enough variety to keep it engaging for long periods of time. With a level editor or Workshop support, I could see this problem being alleviated quite quickly. That being said, for all of its shortcomings, it makes up for it in its great Twitch integration, gamepad support, personality, and with those bears that know how to use a phone and snitch on me.

  • At only 12 levels long - one being a bonus round and another being a remix - it can be finished in a single evening. Despite owing a lot to Hotline Miami in terms of sight and sound, Party Hard is almost the antithesis of its most obvious influence. On a personal note, it's actually more reminiscent of How to be a Complete Bastard, a similar (and ancient) game involving house parties and a destructive protagonist.

About the game

In Party Hard, you play as someone who is really tired of the neighbors having loud parties. Instead of calling the police, you decide it’s a better idea to kill everyone – using your faithful knife and the environment. The tactical strategy follows a series of killings at parties through-ought the USA.
