- OVIVO is an unusual black-and-white platformer in which we guide a small sphere through a series of surreal levels by altering its color to change the direction of gravity.
Alex Sem · Jun 14, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Ovivo, despite its technical drawbacks and its habit of frustrating its players, is one of those games that says a great deal without ever uttering a single word. The game’s artistic inkblot-like presentation not only serves its platforming structure remarkably well, but toys wonderfully with the senses. That said, the game’s aforementioned issues do pull it just shy of greatness in the long-run, but even so, it’s one platformer I can comfortably recommend.
Mark Sherwood · Jul 02, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Whereas VVVVVV had gravity flips, it was also very geometrically square. Ovivo has these amazing levels that swirl and curve and bend and twist and it makes for hair-raising moments that might work in your favor but its really tough to know if they are feasible at all or not. The lack of 90 degree angles in this game really notches up the uncertainty and tempts you into going for moves or plays you might never have attempted in other games. Ovivo is a tantalizing, ambitious work of art both mechanically and visually. I guess there is a little bit of pulse pounding excitement in the meditation after all.
Andrew Fretz · Apr 09, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - While it lasts, OVIVO is a lovely ride that uses its constantly-evolving mechanics and short length to avoid outstaying its welcome. The downside to that is that it’s quite short; my first run took me a little under two hours, and as mentioned earlier, there was little motivation to return. To borrow a cliché, though, big things come in small packages, and much like its levels, OVIVO shows that it’s not about getting caught up in the details; it’s about looking at the bigger picture.
Olivia Falk · May 29, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Ovivo is a wonderful game, full of excellent ideas, and you should definitely give it a go.
Harry Slater · Mar 30, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - While some people may be looking for a similar experience to Super Meatboy, full of stressful levels that require some serious reflexes and problem-solving, OVIVO offers the exact opposite. It’s a relaxing experience that doesn’t really challenge the mind or reflexes, instead, it's more like weaving your way through a maze of fantastic artwork. Overall the game has nice simple mechanics and some lovely visuals and audio, however, it falls short when it comes to difficulty, replayability, and price.
Matt Wilhelm · Aug 11, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Still, for it worth, the game does end up being a unique Indie game with a good mechanic and excellent art. Add in the mystery and inner philosophical style the game goes for, I recommend Ovivo with a 7 out of 10.
