Critic Reviews

  • It's beautiful, mysterious, absurdly difficult, strange as I've ever seen in an m-game. You already know if it's for you. Dalí would have played Oquonie.

  • In execution, Oquonie is a compelling game that murmurs to its players in hopes that they’re listening. It’s perfectly novel, yet inspired, and it may frustrate at times and intrigue at others, but to those who listen and take time in its ambiguities, Oquonie is incomparable.

  • Oquonie obviously isn’t for everyone. While the amazing black-and-white sketched graphics make the game worth checking out, the gameplay itself is hit or miss. Some players will find it too irritating to complete, while others will enjoy all that the game has to offer.

  • Oquonie's willfully oblique puzzles and consciusly arty leanings are by turns fascinating and tiresome.

  • You might really like Oquonie. It's unique, beautiful, ethereal, surreal, and occasionally satisfying. By giving you no instructions or cues it forces you to engage with its world in a way that few games do, which is to its benefit. Oquonie is beautiful, unique, surreal, arch, and difficult in at least two senses of the word. Only gamers with a fondness for the avant-garde should bother.
