  • For those that simply want to experience One Punch Man as a part of the narrative, there's no better alternative than A Hero Nobody Knows, even if it would fall apart were it not for One Punch Man's recognizable heroes reminding players what universe they're in.

  • The fights become boring due to their simplicity, enough so that the appearance of the famous named characters doesn't improve things, and the presentation is far from impressive this late in the console cycle. Perhaps the hardcore fans may find fun in A Hero Nobody Knows for an afternoon, but for those who are looking for a substantial adventure or a good anime fighting game, this is not it.

  • One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is a game that can gladden a fan’s heart as they enjoy the nostalgia, the ability to create their own hero, fight the grand battles, and meet the series’ heroes. As for me, I was happy to play the game, but I will not go through with it again. One playthrough is enough.

  • To that end, it's more charitable to see One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows as more of a Hero Association RPG than a fully qualified fighting game. You won't be seeing it on the main stage at EVO anytime soon, but you can at least have a fun few hours raising your own hero.

  • It’s a shame because One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows could have been a great game. The developers have proved they a strong grasp on the style and flair of the series. The hero arrival mechanic also lends itself perfectly to the lore and separates this from other anime arena fighters. Sadly, One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows lands a glancing smack instead of a one-hit knockout.

  • One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows looks the part but is found lacking in its gameplay department. The overall game could have been much more than the stale and bland mess it currently is. This is one of those games that will give you a great evening, if you can score a copy in the sales bin. To recommend the game with its current price tag would not be justified. Only hardcore One Punch Man fans, or those wanting to dole around on the online features can have some fun buying the game at its current value.

  • But it's hard to get past the clunky fighting, especially when the story mode leans so hard on it. It makes the game's other issues stand out more starkly. It becomes difficult to overlook the fact that quest-giving NPCs are sometimes completely absent from the map, or the fact that sometimes, map notifications don't clear the way they should.

  • Although it's super clunky and very unpolished, there's a weird charm to One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. It may not satisfy brawler aficionados or hardcore OPM fanatics, but it should amuse those who want to experience life as a flamboyant superhero.

  • One Punch Man is all about how dumb the Hero Association’s bureaucracy is and you’re basically forced to climb the same ladder the show constantly made fun of. It is also a show about how boring Saitama’s life is due to the fact he’s so overpowered and that is visible whenever you’re actually able to play as him for the mere seconds he’s onscreen. One Punch Man will never work as a videogame and A Hero Nobody Knows is proof.

  • If you are a fan of the One-Punch Man anime, it’s a no brainer and you should pick this game up!  It’s enjoyable creating your own hero and rising up the hero ranks. However, in the end I did feel a little bit disappointed as it takes a lot of work to rise up the ranks, with way too many side quests needing completing.
