  The transition from single-screen pre-rendered backgrounds to fully realized 3D environments has breathed new life into level design of Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition. Stages wrap around each other, utilizing added depth creatively. The expansive vistas of Oddworld's alien landscape look incredibly realistic, showcasing the capabilities of the Unity engine, which has evolved from a budget choice for hobbyists to a platform capable of rendering imagery on par with AAA Unreal Engine 4 titles. The clashing tones with the storytelling and gameplay are regrettable. The developers should have leaned more into the silliness of the premise instead of take itself so seriously. Being able to fart on command was a crucial pillar of Oddworld and seeing it gutted is utterly depressing.

  The capitalist machine that overshadows the narrative in some ways mirrors those in our world, and yet Soulstorm presents these themes in the proper light when necessary. Other times, you can expect plenty of black humor (it is a series staple) and plenty of ironies that permeate the characters.

  The Oddworld has finally graced the Xbox platform with it’s newest entry into the franchise with Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition. This is a reimagining of the classic Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. It improves on the prequel remake, Oddworld: New ‘n Tasty, in every way. Hands down the best 2D Oddworld game and I think fans of the franchise will love it.

  If you’re looking for a game which is able to wow in the cutscenes, make you laugh during moments of ill and see you frantically run for your life in others, all while still being able to deliver a smattering of humour and satisfaction whenever Abe’s fellow Mudokons are saved, Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition is the game you must play.

  Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition provides a much more stable experience, with extra content for players to get stuck into. It's great to be back as Abe, and having a smoother game makes up for earlier frustrations felt when the game released back in April.

  Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition es un fantástico juego de plataforma con mucha originalidad. Esta versión mejorada del juego ha solucionado muchos de los problemas con los que fue lanzado originalmente el juego en abril. El resultado general es un juego retador, divertido y lleno de un humor negro que satisface bastante. Si te gustan los juegos de plataformas, este seguramente debería estar entre tus intereses.

  Oddworld: Soulstorm ist ein wilder Ritt, ein Auf und Ab, ein Fluchen und Jubeln. Lorne Lanning und seinem Team gebührt ein großes Lob für die prächtige Inszenierung, die das statische 2,5D-Prinzip mit dynamischen Perspektivwechseln modernisiert - und in seinen besten Momenten blitzt der alte Abe richtig auf. Aber sie hätten das Spieldesign ohne zu viel Krimskrams auf den faszinierenden Kern reduzieren sollen.

  Se infatti alcune sequenze dell'avventura sono state rese meno difficili e si è provveduto a risolvere determinati inconvenienti con l'intelligenza artificiale, l'impianto trial & error e un sistema di controllo lento, macchinoso e impreciso contribuiscono a rendere l'esperienza inevitabilmente frustrante.

  Παρά ταύτα, το Oddworld Soulstorm παραμένει ένα από τα καλύτερα παιχνίδια της περυσινής χρονιάς και ένα από τα καλύτερα platformers των τελευταίων ετών. Είναι μια φιλόδοξη προσπάθεια για μια μικρή ομάδα και ένα μηχανικά καλοσχεδιασμένο παιχνίδι, με ενδιαφέρουσα πλοκή, αξιολάτρευτο πρωταγωνιστή και έναν άψογο κόσμο που περιμένει να εξερευνηθεί. Όσοι περίμεναν να διατεθεί στο Steam για να το αποκτήσουν, σίγουρα θα μείνουν ικανοποιημένοι.

  Τα επιπρόσθετα challenges είναι προφανώς καλοδεχούμενα για ένα κοινό που αρέσκεται στην δυσκολία που προσφέρει το Oddworld: Soulstorm γενικότερα, αλλά η πραγματική δύναμη της  Enhanced Edition βρίσκεται στην αναβάθμιση της Α.Ι. και στις βελτιώσεις σε gameplay και σε τεχνικά ζητήματα. Θα θέλαμε να δούμε αυτή τη δύναμη και στον οπτικοακουστικό τομέα, αλλά αυτό ίσως να μας το φυλάνε οι devs για τα επόμενα επεισόδια του Abe και της φυλής τους. Άλλωστε δε πρέπει να ξεχνάμε ότι πίσω από την δυσκολία του τίτλου, το gameplay και τον οπτικοακουστικό τομέα, κρύβεται μία ιστορία και μία ατμόσφαιρα που μας έχουν ψήσει περισσότερο από ποτέ να δούμε τη συνέχεια αυτού του ιδιαίτερου και άκρως ενδιαφέροντος franchise. Η Oddworld Inhabitants δημιούργησε και εξέλιξε μια εξαιρετική βάση σ’ ό,τι αφορά το σενάριο του Oddworld και με την Enhanced Edition θα μπορέσει να εκτιμηθεί όλο αυτό το σεναριακό οικοδόμημα ακόμη περισσότερο από τους λάτρεις του είδους στη μέχρι σήμερα πιο ομαλή και διασκεδαστική μορφή του τίτλου.
