- New Super Lucky's Tale on PS5 is an easy recommendation anyone looking for their next 3D platforming fix. Read our PS5 review for more.
John-Paul Jones · Mar 26, 2026 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The PS5 version of New Super Lucky's Tale is its best console port yet as it plays and looks like a dream.
Tyler Treese · Mar 23, 2026 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - All in all, New Super Lucky's Tale isn't a bad 3D romp at all, although veterans of the genre (or really gaming in general) are just going to tear through it with ease. This definitely puts the game into the for younger audiences crowd, for better or worse. Still, if you really dig these types of games and don't mind the low challenge and short run-time, the game may just be for you. Just make sure you've fully explored the genre first!
Gregory Wright · Sep 09, 2020 Reviewed on PS4 - The transition from Switch to Xbox is impressive. When Yooka-Laylee released back in 2017, I expected it to reinvigorate my love for the 3D platforming genre similar to how Super Mario Odyssey did, but I had to wait until New Super Lucky’s Tale to truly feel that satisfaction.
Clayton Cyre · Sep 02, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - In a nutshell, New Super Lucky’s Tale will remind you of Nintendo’s flagship platformers. It plays really well too. The gameplay is fun in terms of traversal, while the same can’t be said for its combat. If you play games to immerse yourself in an interesting story, this game isn’t for you. It’s the type of game you or a younger family member will want to play on an easy morning. It’s nothing more and nothing less, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing for a game like this.
Rhett Roxl · Sep 01, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The caveat being that the game has no difficulty settings and more seasoned gamers might find it a touch easy. But I feel the game is enjoyable enough to not notice how easy the game is and just soak up all the platforming goodness being thrown your way. There’s outfits to buy, secret stages to find and a reasonable amount of collectibles that don’t feel overwhelming or are difficult to attain.
Nick Baker · Aug 30, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Youngsters will certainly find a lot to love here and in this vein New Super Lucky’s Tale is a triumph. Everyone else will find a nice and pleasant platformer but might want more excitement and memorable moments that they probably won’t find here. Ultimately Lucky’s tale is one worth taking in no matter your age, just keep in mind that you may not find enough excitement or story for your liking.
James Davie · Aug 28, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Overall, I have to say that I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with New Super Lucky’s Tale. It’s a charming little platformer with superb stage designs and a whole lot of heart. It’s perfect for younger players or those just looking for a relaxing romp in a fantastical world. Sure, I wish it was a bit longer and packed more of a challenge. But at the end of the day, I found it easy to overlook these issues, considering just how much fun I was having. Still, those looking for a game that’ll keep them busy for weeks on end may find the $40 asking price a bit steep. But if that doesn’t bother you, don’t hesitate to make like Lucky and dig on in.
Francis DiPersio · Aug 21, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - There’s nothing here that you haven’t seen before, but these kinds of games aren’t very common nowadays. It’s always a pleasant surprise when we not only get a new one but one that’s as good as New Super Lucky’s Tale.
Andrew Farrell · Aug 21, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - New Super Lucky’s Tale is a game that probably doesn’t need to exist, all things considered. But I’m very glad it does; the changes made to this version make it even better than it was the first time round. It remains one of the most wholesome and enjoyable 3D platform games of recent years, and I just hope we get more of Lucky’s adventures in the future.
