- Neverending Nightmares sets up a great atmosphere, and then ruins it by featuring boogeymen you have to get past using poor controls. When you aren’t doing that, the game throws some jump scares at you, but a lot of the time is still spent shuffling around hallways randomly. This sucks a lot of tension around the game, and makes for something that’s more frustrating than it is scary.
Campbell Bird · Dec 13, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Sketching the true horrors of mental illness, Neverending Nightmares succeeds in creating an unnerving atmosphere that will keep you forever on the edge of your seat. It's let down by a lack of environments and varied gameplay, but it still stands as a chilling experience that those with an interest in the genre should check out.
Kieran Harris · May 08, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - With Neverending Nightmares, Infinitap does a stellar job of simulating the more common elements of nightmares, but shows enough self-control to prevent the experience from being absolutely wearying. Though the subject matter might be disturbing to some, this short, effective experience makes for one of the more memorable horror games in recent memory.
Bob Mackey · May 04, 2016 Reviewed on PS4 - Neverending Nightmares is a game that gets under your skin. It crawls in the shadows after you turn out the lights and will pervade your dreams if you dare to play it just before you go to sleep. A true gem in an oversaturated market of first person horror titles, Neverending Nightmares is a game that deserves your attention.
Timmy Garrett · May 04, 2016 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - I hesitate to call Neverending Nightmares a “bad game.” Despite its flaws, it remains a unique experience and a rare, intimate look into an illness that is often misunderstood by media.
Matthew Utley · May 03, 2016 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - After an extremely positive first hour that was tremendously terrifying, Neverending Nightmares wears thin. The gorgeous visuals aren’t enough to save the game from its own tedious design, and ultimately I was bored by the time the game ended less than three hours later. There’s a lot of interesting ideas, but very few are capitalized on in any captivating way.
Tyler Treese · May 03, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - And yet, having slept on it, I find myself obsessing over the questions raised, and the imagery foisted upon me by the encroaching darkness, than I have with any game in recent memory. Its frustrations are many, but they are not what sticks in the mind after it’s done. Neverending Nightmares might be a dream only worth taking once, but once is all it needs to work its ill upon you.
Justin Clark · Oct 24, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Neverending Nightmares has its flaws, and it certainly isn’t for the squeamish. However, anyone who digs the horror or suspense genres should absolutely pick this up. Being born out of personal torment and inner conflict makes this game a unique experience, and sometimes you can’t help but relate to Thomas’ confusion as he wanders through the dark. I hope you can save him. I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck in his nightmare.
Nicholas Plouffe · Oct 08, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It isn't often that a game developer will tear his heart out and lay it down for everyone to see. Despite its flaws, Neverending Nightmares offers a striking and unforgettable horror experience, combined with an uncomfortably intimate look into the true torment of mental illness. However, its lack of content and uneven pacing prevent it from being the classic it feels like it could have been.
Nic Rowen · Oct 08, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Neverending Nightmares stands apart from other games in the horror genre, and not just because of its distinctive art style; by focusing its efforts on creating a sense of unease and discomfort rather than outright fright or shock, Infinitap Games has created something unique and special. ...Where and when Neverending Nightmares fails, the effects are noticeable and jarring. Still, Neverending Nightmares is an atypical horror experience and, when it succeeds, it's one you won't soon forget.
