- There are 89 super-quick levels of this stuff, and you'd think after so long it would get pretty damn boring. But it can't. As soon as you get used to the crawling bug things in level one, they start shooting back in the fifth. By 20, they're teleporting in by the truckload, launching missiles and exploding into a thousand tiny critters, each of which can take you out in one hit. Translation: sweaty palms, unblinking eyes.
Brett Elston · Apr 18, 2006 Reviewed on X360Read full review - It's fun and constantly challenging, and it's both beautiful and it delivers an alluring soundtrack of slow chill techno. There are some minor shortcomings, however. Reloaded would benefit greatly from each level blending into one another without load times. This would maintain the wonderfully surreal vibe and keep players totally immersed without interruption. Reloaded also ramps up too leisurely; an immense amount of levels come your way before you actually feel like you've gotten anywhere.
Douglass C. Perry · Feb 08, 2006 Reviewed on X360Read full review - While the shooting action of Mutant Storm Reloaded is certainly appealing, it isn't the only game in town. Currently, it's listed nose to nose on the Xbox 360's Live Arcade menus with the other Robotron-like launch game, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Considering that Geometry Wars is currently available for half price and offers a much more frantic experience, Mutant Storm Reloaded is a little tough to recommend wholeheartedly, but if you're after an action-filled shooter, Mutant Storm is definitely worth looking at.
Jeff Gerstmann · Nov 23, 2005 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Mutant Storm Reloaded is the kind of sympathetic update that reminds us exactly why gamers gets so foamed up about supposedly outdated concepts. Sometimes things just work, and always will. Although, at 800 points, it's by no means the cheapest retro thrill out there, it's well worth giving Mutant Storm Reloaded a try (for free, there's a decent demo available, remember) and remind yourself how intoxicating a Robotron-style shooter can be.
