  • Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is, like its predecessors, still a pretty rough-and-ready indie game. With that in mind, it is also one that comes with many flashes of brilliance, especially if you appreciate open worlds and intense, unique multiplayer. If you're OK with innovative gameplay taking a front seat to lower-end production values, this is one compelling sandbox-flavored sequel that comes with the extra spice of gunpowder.

  • Let's face it--the Mount & Blade games aren't going to win your admiration on the virtue of their looks. But when it comes to delivering a simulation of melee combat that's brutal, impactful, and satisfying, there aren't many games that compare. With Fire and Sword's biggest problem is that its core conceits fail to contribute to what the series is best at. If you're a newcomer, Mount & Blade: Warband is easily the better bet. Veterans will get a brief kick out of this powder keg, but we suspect they'll be reaching for the familiar steel soon enough

  • Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword is as engaging, addictive and fun as the previous games. Unless you really don’t like firearms, it will appeal to fans of the series, and even newcomers might appreciate the improved degree of direction you’re given at the beginning. Had we not got this free for review purposes however, we’re not sure if we would have bought this title or not. Still, you could think of it as an investment in whatever TaleWorlds is going to be working on next - we think they deserve that much, at least.

  • The majority of the bread-and-butter activities are nigh identical, as is the pace and pattern of play. Once the novelty of gunpowder has worn off, series veterans may find themselves wandering back to familiar pastures - or wondering whether one of the tastier Caravanserai offerings (some of which also supply musket action) wouldn't have provided as much pleasure.

  • Ganz subjektiv sage ich: Mir gefällt Fire and Sword.

About the game

In an open sand box world you choose your allies, your enemies, what provinces to conquer, what castles to siege and what quests to embark on. With Fire & Sword builds and expands upon the highly regarded combat system from Mount & Blade: Warband. Firearms have been introduced to the battlefield. Additionally, muskets and pistols can now be used as sidearms in hand-to-hand combat to quickly drop your foes. In addition to the enhanced singleplayer mode, With Fire & Sword also provides a host of original multiplayer content including the new game mode: Captain.
