  • There is a lot to like, a lot to recommend over Milestone's previous effort. While certain flaws still exist in the troubled development of the game, the gameplay and racing experience is exhilarating and the game is worth checking out if on sale.

  • MotoGP 14 demands a lot of time investment in learning the intricacies of motorcycle racing. Fortunately the game is set up to accommodate players of differing skill levels from rookie to pro. Early frustration at finding and holding the best racing line quickly turns to satisfaction as you become more accomplished at doing so. MotoGP 14 is an impressive package with a lot of depth and challenge but is hampered by the lack of a proper FFB controller unique to this type of racing.

  • The graphics don’t impress very much, despite higher-resolution textures being favored over a higher frame rate. The cockpit view still feels just like a floating camera, and all the bikes sound identical. The career mode is a fun way to progress from the weaker Moto3 bikes to the scary-powerful MotoGP ones, at least, but even that experience is a bit dulled as you don’t earn money, only fans and parts. At a full asking price of $60, this is a tough sell to anyone who is not a hardcore MotoGP/AMA fan.

  • MotoGP 14 can be safely avoided by all by the most die-hard fans of the series. While it features an impressive variety of modes, they each share a lot of the same properties, so they don’t feel very different. ...This issue has crippled past entries and remains one now. Outside of replays, it also doesn’t make much use of current-generation hardware to craft impressive graphics, although the sound design is strong. Online is buggy, but amusingly so.

  • Despite being let down in other areas, MotoGP's racing action is terrific, and that's what counts. It's challenging, and has enough options and modes to keep racing fans busy for months. MotoGP 14 delivers exciting, challenging and surprisingly deep motorcycle racing action. It's audio-visuals feel disappointingly last-generation, however.

It’s not to say that MotoGP 14 can’t be appreciated for what it offers, which is a lot of content, but it simply isn’t for everyone. Fans of the sport and franchise have a lot great modes to look forward to, with not only single player races but multiplayer also. Newcomers, as long as you know what you’re getting yourself into and are willing to invest the time, you’ll be racing like the pros with ease.

  • If you can cope with the slightly sterile nature of the environments and the likelihood that you will spend a lot of time falling off the bike and hitting restart, you’ll find a lot here to like. It’s an incredibly detailed and exhaustive representation of the sport--indeed, one of the finest uses of a license this side of NBA 2K14. That said, the leap to next-gen hasn’t dramatically improved the core experience, and it feels underwhelming compared to its peers, including Gran Turismo 6 and even Forza 5.

  • MotoGP 14 is a really fun racing sim that manages to be accommodating to both veteran and rookie racers alike. The ability to customize numerous racing factors allows the player to tailor the game to his racing style.

  • An entertaining handling model coupled with copious amounts of content make this a must-own option for motorsport aficionados, while the ability to tune the experience to your own personal skill level means that those in need of training wheels will enjoy their time in the saddle, too.

  • Being fairly new to racing on two wheels, I wasn’t sure how I would take to MotoGP, but found that it quite quickly grew on me as I became more familiar with the handling and physics of the incredibly powerful bikes, by way of the career mode and the wide selection of bikes and classes to work through. However, it’s let down by certain graphical limitations and a general lack of polish to the presentation.
