  Fun and flawed. If you need a three word review of Modern Combat Versus, that’s the perfect way of summing it up. It frequently gives with one hand and takes away with the other. The basic foundations are solid, but there’s that sneaky suspicion that it’s an update or two away from actually being great. For now, it’s a little lightweight, needs more content, and is all too keen to utilize some cheap free-to-play elements.

  It's not fun to play a first-person shooter against players that can pay to have their characters be better than yours. While this scenario doesn't present itself in every match of Modern Combat Versus, the fact that it can and does happen is a pretty huge issue. Although Modern Combat Versus actually seems like one of Gameloft's more creative and successful outings, the free-to-play structure surrounding the action is annoying and upsets the balance of the game.

  Modern Combat Versus è un gran bel vedere, con ogni probabilità lo sparatutto visivamente più sofisticato che si sia mai visto in ambito mobile, e allo stesso modo vanta un sistema di controllo touch preciso, intuitivo, per nulla macchinoso, che consente di cimentarsi con scontri a fuoco frenetici e coinvolgenti. È un peccato che un impianto così valido non sia stato messo al servizio di una campagna propriamente detta, visto che l'esperienza si limita al multiplayer competitivo (al momento su di un'unica modalità), prendendo a riferimento prodotti come Titanfall e, soprattutto, Overwatch. Se apprezzate il genere, si tratta senza dubbio di un titolo valido e promettente in ottica futura, nella speranza che Gameloft non abbandoni l'idea di donare al franchise nuove storie da vivere in singolo.

  Che siate giocatori casual o hardcore, Modern Combat Versus sarà il miglior sparatutto online per smartphone su cui potrete posare i polpastrelli quest'anno. Ammiccando al genere emergente degli hero shooter, Gameloft propone ben 12 personaggi con cui scatenarsi tra una sparatoria e una corsa sui muri, senza rinunciare a un profondo sistema di progressione. A impreziosire quest'inedita esperienza ci pensano un comparto tecnico che grida al miracolo e un sistema di controllo semplicemente perfetto. Non si può ignorare, tuttavia, la scarsità di contenuti al lancio, per non parlare di alcuni difetti di bilanciamento che destano una certa preoccupazione per il futuro.
