- The Show has been one of the more consistently excellent and complete sports series for years, and MLB The Show 21 maintains that excellence as it steps into the next-gen batter's box. The cover athlete choice of the aforementioned Fernando Tatis, Jr., is no coincidence, as the young star is being seen as one of baseball's next big things, ushering in a possible new era of personality and Q-rating power that the game could sorely use.
Redmond Carolipio · May 20, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - It’s not perfect by any means, as evident with some graphical bugs here and there. But when it’s running smoothly, I can guarantee you there is nothing hindering you from playing the perfect game. If you really desire it. I must admit, my competitive nature compels me to go deeper into the mechanics. At least to the point that game remains relatively fresh. MLB The Show 21 is a solid game and a must-have for baseball fans.
Erickson Melchor · May 13, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - It's a hard game and that's OK. Challenges should always be welcomed. But there needs to be a way to bridge the gap, especially with The Show 21 now being made available to a much wider audience. If it can happen with other sports games, it's time it happens for baseball's biggest title.
Charlie Ridgely · May 11, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - MLB The Show 21 isn’t just worth playing on the Xbox Series S and X out of novelty. It is a pretty good baseball game that’s shockingly accessible to people who know absolutely nothing about the sport, while being exactly what veterans and fans would expect from a yearly update of a sports franchise. It’s not exactly what I’m expecting from a next-gen sports game, but it’s a step in the right direction. And I cannot believe I’ll now look forward to a brand new baseball video game every year.
Leo Faria · Apr 30, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - MLB The Show 21 makes the leap to a new console generation and ushers in a game-wide refresh that has the storied franchise feeling new.
Jon Hueber · Apr 26, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Overall I am blown away at how much I have enjoyed playing MLB The Show 21. I had a mild interest in baseball but I can see myself following the sport a lot closer based on how much fun I have had so far in this game. Sure it has flaws and it’s not the easiest to just pick up and play, but that all pales in comparison to the satisfaction of crushing a pitch clean out the field.
Ross Mitchell · Apr 25, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Take me out to the ball game and leave me in the nosebleeds. I’m never coming back. MLB The Show 21 is a tremendous homage to a sport so many love. I know the Road to the Show regression will drive people crazy, and the bugs do continue to somewhat hinder my enjoyment. But this is all fixable stuff. What lies underneath is a beautiful simulation of baseball. Isn’t that what we came for?
Rhett Waselenchuk · Apr 25, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Outside of the gameplay itself, the game feels like a sometimes-ugly, disorganized collection of menus that wants you to pay extra money to really enjoy the most engaging content without falling victim to an endless grind.
Justin O'Brien · Apr 23, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Longtime Sony devotees will note successful tweaks to fielding indicators to track ball paths like bounce trails, and a new complex pitching option that requires tricky right stick motions to determine pitch accuracy.
Matt Paprocki · Apr 22, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - MLB The Show 21 lacks flash and new experiential paths this season, but continues to improve on the field and beneath the hood, giving an entirely new audience of players a hell of a game to begin their baseball careers with.
