- MLB The Show 20 is the definitive version of Sony San Diego’s baseball simulation on the PS4, but long-time fans may feel that this franchise is just starting to show signs of fatigue. The gameplay refinements are welcome, and this is the biggest instalment thus far, but the shift to next-gen will be welcome as the developer seeks to revolutionise the best sports game on the market by far.

If you’ve slept on the series the past couple of years, or are just looking for a deep sports simulation while you social distance, MLB The Show 20 is a great game of baseball and for that, I’m truly grateful.
Joel S · Mar 30, 2020 Reviewed on PS4 - Unfortunately, because of our lack of experience and knowledge of the sports and the previous game, we couldn’t really compare this game to its predecessor. For fans of the sports, this is a perfect game to play as the manager of your favorite team or create your own player and try to grow in the ranks of the MLB. The game looks great with some awesome visuals and a great way of presentation. From a distance, you won’t even notice the difference between a match in this game, and one in real-life. The game offers plenty of game modes so there’s always something different to do.

This results in a game that feels more balanced in terms of variety across an assortment of game modes, while the action on the diamond has been tightened up with rewarding consistency and added dynamism that maintains the series' lofty standards.

The graphics and modifications, like the throw home indicators, make it seem like you’re actually watching and playing baseball. It’s tough for fans out there that the joy and distraction associated with baseball is gone for the time being. However, this game definitely fills the void that we desperately need at the moment.

While some of the modes and new features fall flat, Sony San Diego’s continuous efforts to refine and improve gameplay mechanics have resulted in another stellar baseball sim.

Here’s hoping that the world will soon be healed and baseball — and normalcy — will return for all of us. For now, if you are longing for some baseball, San Diego Studio has you covered with MLB The Show 20.

There was very little that wowed, and even less that evolved more than incrementally this season. And while this is still easily the best baseball title ever released, it did very little to raise the bar over its prior installment. If you are hard up for action on the diamond, rest assured that this will help to temporarily satiate your desires. However, if you have last season’s installment, you may not need to make the upgrade this trip around the calendar.

It’s by far and away one of the most complete sport game packages out there, and provides good reason to stay home in these crazy times.

If this proves to be the final Sony-exclusive baseball simulation that we ever get, the development team deserves to be proud of what they managed to squeeze onto a 50GB Bluray disc. 8/10 banging trash cans
