Critic Reviews
- The thread connecting basically all of these levels is that your turrets will only have a set number of bullets; other wrinkles include specific projectile and enemy types, certain power-ups appearing in abundance, and even a boss fight. While your cumulative score across all the challenges has a leaderboard, it would have been nice to see each level have its own. What is nice is that both the challenges and arcade mode can be played with a partner.
Jordan Rudek · Oct 23, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Missile Command: Recharged didn’t try to revamp the franchise’s formula with revolutionary gameplay changes, but honestly, I think that worked for the best. It’s just a fairly good attempt to bring the franchise to modern consoles, being best enjoyed on the Switch due to its portability. If you’re a fan of retro gaming and Atari’s history, don’t you worry, it’s as good as any other Missile Command game has ever been.
Leo Faria · May 27, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Typically, we don’t address price in our reviews, but it feels like missing the point to not mention that this is $2.99 at launch. From a value perspective, the fleeting leaderboard-driven fun here is totally fine. From a gameplay perspective, I wish there was more than just leaderboard chasing to drive me forward. I might not be compelled to drop quarters into Missile Command: Recharged over and over again, but I’m happy it exists to bring back a landmark arcade game into modern times.
Neal Ronaghan · May 27, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A whole celebration of explosions play out in Missile Command: Recharged and the simple yet highly effective visual style is a nice one, even when the screen is full of destruction. The same can be said for the accompanying sounds – there’s some real heft and meat to the explosive nature of the effects and backing tunes.
Neil Watton · Oct 31, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Missile Command: Recharged on the Switch eShop, is a cheap release that doesn't do much… but does everything right. It's about just as straightforward as the 1980 coin-op, and it can be had for a little stack of quarters. It is therefore hard to complain at the simplicity, as what is available plays well, at least in handheld mode, and the experience does prove surprisingly addictive.
Rudy Lavaux · May 28, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Atari returns to one of its classic franchises for the first time in over a decade to deliver a faithful revival. The old gameplay has aged well, but screams to be revamped and reinvented, neither of which you’ll find in Missile Command: Recharged.
Jarret Green · Apr 06, 2020 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - Missile Command: Recharged is a cool little survival-based adaptation of the classic arcade game. Long-time fans such as myself may be disappointed by the lack of stages and strategic scoring but what's here still offers some simple fun.
A.J. Maciejewski · May 29, 2020 Reviewed on PS5, SwitchRead full review - Nehrá sa tam však práve najlepšie, takže aj to si len párkrát vyskúšate a budete hrať klasicky. Missile Command: Recharged ale aspoň nie je drahá hra. Môžete ju hrať zadarmo a čakanie na „recharge“ si skrátiť reklamami. Prípadne jednorazovo zaplatíte 2,99 € a máte ju úplne bez reklám a čakania. A to podľa mňa nie je veľa, zvlášť keď som doteraz v hre nazbieral nejaké 2-3 hodinky herného času.
