- Mind Zero is in no way a travesty, but despite glaring shortcomings, it's very average. A premise that sets the stage for an exciting thrill ride gives way to a rickety dungeon crawler with little to offer in the way of combat genius, looting, or even life sim elements. A game will collapse if there's nothing in it, and while it's not "nothing" per se here in Mind Zero, there certainly isn't enough good to recommend it as even a Persona competitor, let alone imitator.
Brittany Vincent · Oct 24, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Mind Zero is a potentially great game that is unfortunately hampered by some questionable design choices. If you can get past the game being split into two distinctly opposing halves, there's something special to be found here.
James Gough · Jul 08, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The game just depends too much on its uninteresting characters, only damaged further by tedious dungeon crawling and its other half-baked aspects. We think that there’s something buried here that would have made the game a must-have, but it’s too undeveloped to butt heads with better titles in its class.
Joey Thurmond · Jun 20, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - It is difficult to recommend Mind=Zero to anyone other than the most hardcore fans of the genre. There is little motivation to push through the mediocre plot and the plodding battles, and at the end the player is rewarded with a cliff-hanger ending that will likely never be resolved. There can be some enjoyment for those really looking for something Persona-esque without playing the game themselves, or those that despise fan service in their dungeon crawlers with a passion, but for everyone else, there are far more satisfying games to fill your time with.
Elizabeth Henges · Jun 19, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - With a dull combat engine, uninspired level design and a cookie-cutter storyline, there isn’t anything unique in Mind-Zero, as everything that it does has been done better before elsewhere. If you aren’t absolutely desperate for a new JRPG, you can safely skip this one and perhaps replay P4G instead.
Jae Lee · Jun 16, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Mind Zero definitely borrows most of its ideas from other, better turn-based RPGs, but at least it’s a well-made clone. 40 hours worth of tough and interesting combat and a steady stream of rewards makes its meaningless story worthwhile.
Meghan Sullivan · Jun 16, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - A potential Persona-killer franchise once some flaws are ironed out. RPG fans will nevertheless enjoy the game, but those new to the genre might be put off by the grindy, linear nature of the game.
Dane Smith · Jun 08, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Mind Zero is a decent role-playing game that reminds me so much of the Persona series that it makes me want to dig out my copy of Persona 4. But to leave it at that would be doing the game a disservice, since it actually does present an interesting story, shallow but fun characters, and gameplay that can get addictive. It might not be a AAA title or have us humming its soundtrack all day the way Persona does, but it’s well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series and RPGs in general.
John Llewellyn Martin · Jun 06, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The Vita isn't hurting for JRPGs, but even if you've already played and finished Demon Gaze, Ys: Memories of Celceta, and Persona 4 Golden, it's best to skip Mind Zero. Like The Asylum's film oeuvre, Mind Zero is capable, at times, of at least holding your attention, but it's rarely entertaining, and when you're done, you'll be wondering why you didn't invest your time in a superior alternative instead.
Heidi Kemps · Jun 05, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Mind Zero is not about to win any awards and it isn’t doing much to change the scene, but in a sea of the same old JRPGs and dungeon crawlers, it at least shows a tiny glimmer of hope for the future of the genre
