  • Meteorfall: Journeys is a card-based roguelike dungeon crawler, where our goal is to lead our hero through three locations full of danger and hardships to eventually combat the evil lich and prevent the destruction of the entire world.

  • In terms of replay value, the random nature of the encounters and the initial difficulty means there is plenty into which to sink your teeth, and even if there never is another card or class or land added, it's going to be a while until you've beaten the Lich and exhausted all of the possibilities in Meteorfall. For just a few bucks, it's a fun alternative to most mobile card games that still happens to use cards, and it's a clever enough tweak to your expectations that it will almost certainly make you smile a few times between cursing out your deaths.

  • Visually, Meteorfall has a quirky, yet charming, cartoon style to it that I love. The game is rendered completely in 2D, and the graphics are reminiscent of cartoons like "Adventure Time." Each of the playable heroes and the monsters they encounter have a unique appearance that's distinctive from each other. The colors in Meteorfall are bright and vivid as well, making it even more eye catching. The cards themselves are pretty plain looking, but have icons and symbols that are self-explanatory, for the most part.

  • Meteorfall is one of those rare games that feels perfectly tailored to the mobile platform. It’s so easy to pick up and play, but it also has just enough layers of depth to make sure you’ll be coming back to play more of it. And you really should. It’s a fantastic game.

  • The developers call Meteorfall a roguelike game, which feels a little misleading to me – yes there is permanent death and each game is randomly generated, but the same could be said for countless decidedly un-rogue-like games. To me, the essence of a rogue game is the freedom to discover and explore a map step by step – not a feature here.

  • Each failure feels like it's an important part of the learning process. You figure out where you went wrong, and then try and make sure you don't do it again. Meteorfall is a supremely welcome addition to the mobile card genre. It's brilliantly well put together, super smart, and is deep enough that you can easily lose hours to it.

    About the game

Meteorfall is a deck-building roguelike. You'll choose your class from one of four unique adventurers, and then set out with a deck consisting of some basic attack cards. During the course of your adventure, you'll be presented with the opportunity to add powerful new cards to your deck. No adventure would be complete without slaying a few monsters that get in your way. In battle, you'll draw cards from your ability deck. Each time you draw a card, you'll be able to swipe right to play the card, or swipe left to skip a turn and regain some stamina.
