- The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is an absolute wonderful port that in someways is better than its PS3 brother. With stunning graphics and the great touch controls, it's almost perfect. Despite Peace Walker not being included, it would be a shame if this game wasn't in every Vita owners collection.
lateralus2801 · Feb 12, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - In the case of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, not only are we treated to excellent ports of timeless gaming gems, but the added features are, for the most part, justifiable and unique enough to warrant yet another purchase of these games you've likely played or owned in the past.
Peter Brown · Jun 27, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Revisiting Sons of Liberty was cool but the real treat for me was being exposed to the really great Snake Eater. Konami has provided a great portable reboot of the Metal Gear Series and a near console quality experience of two amazing games for $40 that you can take on the go. Count me in.
Shad Forsyth · Jun 20, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Ultimately, the incredible amount of fun and content to be had within Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 outweighs a lot of this package’s negatives. But the lack of Peace Walker is such a glaring omission, it really cannot be dismissed all that easily. If a download voucher for the PSP version had been included, that would have eased the pain a lot. With the Vita’s second analog stick, that game could have been a most-welcome addition to the HD Collection.
Paulmichael Contreras · Jun 20, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Even with the lack of updated controls in two of the three titles, the intriguing storylines and updated graphics are well worth a look, giving you enough reason to sneak past the drawbacks. Every fan of the series and anyone looking to get into the Metal Gear series for the first time should consider this collection a must have. You’ll never look at magazines or large boxes the same again.
Nathan Michalik · Feb 03, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - Bluepoint Games has done an admirable job collating one of gaming's most unique, important and frustrating franchises. Metal Gear Solid has always been a complicated beast; a series with a pressing anti-war sentiment that seems to simultaneously revel in bombastic action flicks, set in a world where the cheeky upskirt camera shot is the only thing more important than an elaborate interrogation of the human condition.
Martin Gaston · Jan 26, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - The Metal Gear franchise of games can be summed up in many ways. Pretentious and frustrating come to mind, yet they can also be described as the most innovative, inventive, and influential action game series of all time. One thing for sure, there is simply nothing else quite like Metal Gear Solid and even though this doesn’t include the best game in the series, the original, this HD Collection’s great value lays in the gameplay.
Frank Naresh · Dec 04, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection brings five MGS games to this generation of consoles, with three of them bringing full trophy support and three Platinum trophies. Remastered audio and video makes the games not only easy on the eyes, but quite a bit of old school fun in a new package. The transition into HD isn’t as good as it could have been, but you’re still getting three of the best games in the series — of all-time even — on one disc for one low price. If that doesn’t make an exclamation point appear above your head, I don’t know what will.
Louis Edwards · Nov 21, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Overall, a collection of games inspired by one of the most revolutionary games in the gaming industry would be a worthwhile purchase for any reason. If the historical reference isn't enough, then the stories within each game are great enough to entice anyone who enjoys a deep and engrossing plot.
Timothy Nunes · Nov 17, 2011 Reviewed onRead full review - Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a product that gradually decreases in entertainment value, starting with a sublime HD version of an already inspiring game and ending with an unnecessary port of an awkward handheld title. The lack of the original Metal Gear Solid leads to a collection that cannot help feeling incomplete. As the most iconic and important game in the franchise, its exclusion is hugely noticeable and remains somewhat disappointing. Despite its availability elsewhere, it would have been the perfect addition.
