- Mass Effect 2 has been described as the dark second chapter of the trilogy, the series' "Empire Strikes Back," if you will. Nowhere is this more apparent than in your squadmates' personal missions. Each new recruit has a personal quest you can tackle before setting out on the final mission. Completing a personal quest unlocks a new power and costume, and cements that character's loyalty to Shepard and the mission.
Joe McNeilly · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - Overall, the game is inarguably one of the most solid titles to come out in quite some time. Offering a fantastic storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, BioWare has proven once again why it’s one of the top developers in the gaming industry. They took the time allotted and made an amazing game even more impressive.
Joseph Peterson · Jan 20, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Mass Effect 2 is an awesome game, awesome story, and plain awesome experience regardless of what system it’s on. 360 owners will probably want to stick with that version to avoid to long installs, downloads, and bargain bin prices. Everyone else unfortunate to go this long without Mass Effect has no excuse. Get this game, play it, love it, and prepare for Mass Effect 3.
Lawrence Sonntag · Jan 20, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - The smattering of design hiccups are still present - the odd linear mission, and the chore-like but unavoidable mining mini-game - but so are all of the wonderful things - the fantastic dialogue, the thoughtful intelligence of it all, and that bit where Mordin starts singing. It's been said before, but it's worth repeating: Western RPGs will never be the same again, such is the impact of BioWare's work here. In short, Mass Effect 2 is bloody brilliant. Grab a fork, and tuck in.
Neon Kelly · Jan 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The characters, the story, and the gameplay come together to deliver a jaw-dropping adventure unlike anything else. Yes, reliving the choices of the first Mass Effect as an interactive comic book pales in comparison to importing your own Commander Shepard. However, aside from losing that consistency in the universe, Mass Effect 2 is just as good on PS3 as it on 360.
Joe Juba · Jan 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - Its solid third-person shooting combat isn't only functional, but stronger than many dedicated third-person shooters and a reason for shooter and action fans to get in on the fun. And above all else, the game's clean look, amazing voice acting, stellar story and interesting characters will push you to go further and further into Mass Effect 2 to see everything it has to offer.
Colin Moriarty · Jan 17, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Games like Mass Effect 2 don't come around often enough. Look at any aspect and you can be sure it's great. It's incredibly personal while still retaining a sense of epic sweeping scale. The combat and mission design are outstanding. The visuals, voice acting, soundtrack, and direction are miles ahead of the competition. Perhaps most impressively, Mass Effect 2 manages to fulfill its incredible ambition while only suffering from very few technical hiccups.
Erik Brudvig · Feb 08, 2010 Reviewed onRead full review - BioWare has really gotten it right the second time around. They took those same ideas and figured out a better way to combine them into a more cohesive, more playable sequel that makes good on every bit of Mass Effect's potential and leaves me staring very grudgingly at the presumable two-year wait until my own Commander Shepard can continue his fight in the next game.
Brad Shoemaker · Jan 27, 2010 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The superb emphasis on character development, the gripping plot elements and big-budget presentation aren't too bad either. I purposefully avoided mentioning story elements here for those who want to read a review without worrying about spoilers, but take note: this game tells a fascinating dark story that kept me wanting to explore, interact and continue with the trilogy.
Brad Nicholson · Jan 26, 2010 Reviewed on X360Read full review - You'll gladly trade hours of your life to Mass Effect 2. There's just so much here to experience, and it's all uniformly excellent in execution. BioWare has delivered on its promise to let us affect this massive world through our actions, and you can bet that we'll be playing this one through several times in anticipation of how it all pans out.
