Critic Reviews
- You can’t just simply buy the best cards or anything like that, you need to actually play the game to earn them, or get enough collectors tokens to buy them since it’s a currency you can’t just buy.
Aaron Price · Oct 09, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While progression eventually grinds to a crawl, Marvel Snap had me hooked far before I reached that point, and I’m excited about already announced changes that should at least partially address those issues. This is a card game designed to fit into the free moments in your life, and it does that extremely well.
Andrew Thornton · Nov 23, 2022 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - All in all, Marvel Snap provides a good escape for players in a very familiar environment with beloved characters. Rounds are quick, cards are easily collected and upgraded, and new features will be unveiled as time goes on. Overall, a game worth the time and effort trying early.
Barbara Walker · Nov 19, 2022 Reviewed on AndRead full review - Simple, nuanced, design makes Marvel Snap an essential play not just for card game fans but for anyone that might have a few minutes to kill. It won’t turn every player into a card shark, but it’s bound to win fans in unusual places, and with a low barrier to entry you’re really only hurting yourself if you don’t give it a go.
Jake Tucker · Nov 18, 2022 Reviewed on PC, iOS, AndRead full review - Marvel Snap is a fun and surprisingly unique CCG card battler with fast-paced matches and lots of tactical depth surrounding a simple core gameplay loop.
NimbleThor · Nov 16, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Marvel Snap upends the collectible card game genre with some truly fresh ideas, impressive strategic depth, wonderfully slick presentation, and a fantastic use of the Marvel license. Not everything it attempts is an outright win, however. Its high variance gameplay can be frustrating, but is mitigated by the short games and ability to retreat mid-match, while the collection system represents a bold move away from the norm of buying into a collection, but ultimately feels slow and unsatisfying beyond a certain point.
Cam Shea · Nov 04, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Marvel Snap is an incredibly well-designed game. It’s perfectly suited to mobile thanks to how quickly the matches resolve, but the level of strategy is satisfyingly deep. The missions incentivize you to mix things up, and the steady stream of new cards ensures you’ll have plenty of options to choose from for such endeavors.
Shaun Musgrave · Nov 01, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - In spite of some growing pains, Marvel Snap is fantastic and a marvelous first effort from the folks at Second Dinner. Like Marvel itself, it should be fun to see how it grows going forward.
Ozzie Mejia · Oct 28, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Marvel Snap is a wonderfully intuitive card game that is simple to play, easy to learn, and satisfying to master. Games may take just six minutes to play, but there's a depth of strategy and breadth of variance here that is truly awesome.
Josh West · Oct 28, 2022 Reviewed on AndRead full review - The game is fine-tuned, well-designed, and so easily digestible that it’s difficult to put down. I keep finding myself continuing to play even after having completed my daily or season pass missions, just because I want to play another match, or try a new card.
