- That speaks to a greater overall issue in Madden NFL 24, it’s just a poor user experience from top to bottom. Despite being on improved hardware, there’s a brief load on literally everything. Entering a new mode, opening your schedule, adjusting your line-up, it’s all so slow. I tried to give MUT a honest try, but it was painful just trying to navigate the layers of menus and submenus.
Donovan Erskine · Sep 07, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Madden 24 features some excellent on-field improvements and the gameplay is fun but the rest of the game is the same tired experience we’ve been playing for years.
Patrick Allen · Sep 06, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Here's the thing though, I know that this review is coming off very harshly and I think Madden NFL 24 deserves it. However, if all you want to do is load up a game and play some football, this is the best the game has been in a bit. The on-field product is far from perfect, but it's fun. That's much more than I can say about most Maddens over the last decade.
Ricky Frech · Aug 30, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Finally, I feel like the Madden attempt to replicate a TV-style broadcast needs to be blown up and rebuilt. I've always liked the commentary of Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis, so that's not the problem. The issue is that the pre-game, halftime and postgame look and energy feel tacked-on and stale. Part of the football-watching American football experience is a dramatic cold open followed by some invested preamble by the broadcast team, or an actual desk of people talking. That's not what you see here.
Redmond Carolipio · Aug 29, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Madden NFL 24 is a solid entry that simply doesn’t do enough to push it forward. I feel like EA really needs to take a year off, do a roster update, and build an entirely new game. This copy paste stuff continues to bring down the advancements made. It is wild that we say the same stuff every year and each year it rarely changes. Like most people though, I play it every time because there simply isn’t another option, and it isn’t a bad game, far from it, it just feels on cruise control. I want the game to get better, and it does, just not enough to warrant yearly iterations.
Ken McKown · Aug 29, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Madden NFL 24 is a good sports game, a playoff contender even – but you just never really get a sense this game is going to win the Super Bowl. That’s the fundamental flaw here: it’s a good effort from EA Tiburon with a lot of strong under-the-hood gameplay and presentation improvements, but the annual development cycle is preventing this series from really taking meaningful strides forward. Superstar, the reskinned Face of the Franchise, is fine for a few hours – and even Ultimate Team has improved to be more accessible overall. But cumbersome menus and a general sense of familiarity drop the ball, and prevent the release from reaching its full potential.
Sammy Barker · Aug 28, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Madden NFL 24 is a step up from Madden NFL 23 in some ways, but not enough to make it feel like a huge improvement. Animations and AI have never been better, but the stale vibes past Madden games have suffered remain the same in the latest entry in this long-running franchise.
Anthony J Nash · Aug 28, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Madden 24’s year-on-year revisions are a mixed bag. It still feels like a somewhat directionless team just kind of going through the motions in the mushy middle of the NFL pecking order.
Mark Warren · Aug 26, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Madden NFL 24 continues EA Sports’ legacy of making smaller more incremental yearly changes to its beloved franchise. While there doesn’t seem much in the way of “new” this time around and Ultimate Team suffers from some awful UI performance issues, the gameplay is silky smooth and all the fan-favorite modes return with notable improvements.
Trevor Houston · Aug 24, 2023 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Madden NFL 24 aims for a safe play instead of truly revitalizing the series. While controls, animation, visual design, and quality of life improvements are welcome, this entry is more of an incremental upgrade over Madden NFL 23 than a refreshing overhaul of the series. It'll be up to fans to decide whether small improvements are worth the extra cash. Newcomers, however, might find more value in it.
