  • Overall, Lost in Harmony feels and looks unpolished to me in terms of the basic gameplay and beats you are supposed to time to the music, which is the least you should expect from a game of this genre.

  • In the end, I don’t want to be so down on Lost in Harmony. The story is clearly heartfelt and the soundtrack is well done, but the game tries far too many things with poor execution. I get the feeling the soundtrack was conceived first before the developers decided to put a game to it. You could get the same experience by buying the soundtrack and pretending you’re pressing buttons.

  • “M. I. R. A. I.’s Escape,” the other story in Lost in Harmony, has a very different tone and a much different story, but it’s fun to play as well. Overall, Lost in Harmony, while providing a couple hours’ entertainment, is a well-designed runner with great music. It is a definite hit with people who love this genre, though the integration of the rhythm isn’t stellar. I won’t be getting lost in the game for a second play-through, but I enjoyed my time with it.

  • If you want to make a visual novel, make a visual novel. If you want to make a visual novel with a heavy emphasis on music, make a visual novel with a heavy emphasis on music. If you want to make a visual novel with a heavy emphasis on music that’s also a rhythm game, you had better be ready to make something really truly special to make it work—Lost in Harmony: The Musical Odyssey is not.

  • Lost in Harmony‘s rise from mobile into console and PC has been an impressive one, and it isn’t difficult to see why it happened. While it’s true that this musical journey isn’t without its hiccups, rhythm game fans — especially determined ones — should still end up enjoying what its unique, hybrid gameplay has to offer. If you’re on the lookout for a new rhythm game, you could do a heck of a lot worse than Lost in Harmony.

  • The graphics are truly stunning, with sharp renderings, bright colors and clean lines. The in-game audio and sound effects are also top-notch. The storyline is also highly engaging and emotional. There is a high level of replayability due to the way levels can be customized. The audio quality is top notch. It will take up some space on your device and is a pretty big battery drain.

  • Depressing, yet brilliant, Lost in Harmony features the power of love, death and beat in an engrossing gameplay. Try it.

  • Playing the actual game, though, is like taking a class in the compromises necessary for pure touch-control. It says something about how the game expects the player to do when a passing score is 50% and a B ranking is 75%. That’s not how completion should work. Lost in Harmony is a fantastic experience and an incredible presentation, but it’s a shame that it’s just not that good a game.

  • In general, the game is dazzling enough that I would recommend taking the ride, even if things sometimes get a little bumpy on the way.

  • Still, for those who can enjoy the aesthetic of a game more than the gameplay, Lost in Harmony is a great purchase and a fun way to spend a few hours.
