  • Still, with its well-developed story, copious action and exploration, attractive visuals, and easy-to- use controls, it’s easy to get past these annoyances. One thing I really appreciated was that, especially for a platformer, Lost Epic does not rely on pixel perfect jumps or grabs to be able to get to where you need to be. You do need to be careful with timing and targeting with these maneuvers, but the game is a bit more forgiving than a lot of platformers I have played, so props to the developers for requiring skill without demanding utter perfection.

  • We want to love this game, but certain aspects are a real turn-off. Lost Epic has a ton of promising features, but that won’t be enough for some. You can tell that a lot of love did go into the game and that the developers are clearly passionate about the Souls-like and Metroidvania genres.

  • Lost Epic is a fast-paced action game that scratches that itch for people looking for a fun and bright experience. The great presentation and pick-up-and-play gameplay are right at home on the Nintendo Switch. Only people who are looking for a big story or want to know more about this world will be left wanting more.

  • Lost Epic feels like it has great ideas but only good execution. It sits somewhere between full and half-hearted, perhaps something along the lines of “three-quarters hearted.” It feels like a game that is seventy-five percent of what it aims to be. Rather than having a series of cresting highs and sinking lows, it feels more like a steady wave of averageness. Lost Epic is ultimately adequate in all areas at the cost of being generally unremarkable.

  • Lost Epic is a very entertaining game that lovers of the hack-n’-slash genre will undoubtedly appreciate, although the game has a few issues dragging down the overall experience.

  • Lost Epic enthralled me for many hours as I explored the vast areas. The fights are fun and fast, the bosses interesting, and the world beautiful. There are a few hiccups in terms of overall quality, but I enjoyed my time with it and strongly suggested that anyone who enjoys Metroid-souls-like games give it a try.

  • So, Lost Epic didn’t quite live up to the standards that I had set for it when I had played it last year… but it was still good! Flaws aside, Lost Epic is an Metroidvania Souls-lite that’s every bit as charming as it is challenging. Sure, there’s still some work to be done here and there, but I’m confident they’ll get there in time.

  • This isn’t a create-a-character; it’s choosing from one of several premade characters. The premade characters all have exciting, unique designs. They don’t affect anything gameplay-wise or stats-wise. I had to start a second game to check this. Also, all the character voices are Japanese-only, which is fine, but worth noting.

  • It has its issues but some players will find them easier to look past than others, and there’s one thing for sure: it looks beautiful. Just don’t expect it to blow you away, and Lost Epic will eat up hours of your time. But chances are you won’t remember it when you’re done.
