- However, despite its technical issues and occasional lack of coherence, Loretta ends up as a successful experiment in form – even if I’m still unsure of the developer’s ultimate intended message.
Μιχάλης Χασάπης · May 13, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Loretta is a stylish thriller that does well to make decisions feel impactful. The presentation is top-notch and makes playful nods towards its inspirations whilst delivering some flourishes of its own. The story feels tight and thoughtful whilst giving the player plenty of chances to influence proceedings. I was satisfied with my ending but the others feel equally believable. I do think the dreamy interludes can feel occasionally superfluous and the puzzles don't really allow for much thought. Despite this, the intriguing narrative pulled me through.
Mike · Apr 15, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Loretta is an intriguing, often chilling adventure game throwback to cinema noir and pulp fiction. Complex characters and even more complex plot layers stack for an experience that’s meant to be enjoyed multiple times. Its themes are not for the faint of heart, but we could say the same about life in general, can’t we?
Kirk Hiner · Apr 11, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Loretta offers a compelling story packaged in simple gameplay and beautiful pixel art. While the game isn’t long, the plot itself basically mandates at least two playthroughs for the two major routes, more if you want to get to all the juicy details of the story. This means that despite the game’s short runtime, there’s a lot of content here to explore.
Jessica · Apr 15, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Loretta is dark, gritty, and depressing. It’s a tale of a woman repeatedly failed and betrayed by those she should have been able to trust, her back to the wall with limited options. Depending on decisions made, Loretta is also a tale of hope, even if its best ending still delivers noir notes. My only regret with Loretta is not playing it sooner, so if you find this game calling your name, don’t wait a moment longer.
Heather Johnson Yu · Apr 04, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Despite some maddening mini-games and a finicky autosave feature, Loretta delivers a gripping tale and chilling atmosphere with stunning graphics and music. Horror fans should check it out, but be prepared for some frustration along the way.
Erik Parkin · Mar 14, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Loretta is a fun (and sometimes disturbing) story of what happens when you try to bury the truth. Choices matter, and each comes with its own set of consequences. And while the puzzles and active gameplay are limited, the game doesn’t overstay its welcome. Gritty locations, haunting sound effects, and a seriously messed up narrative make this an adventure I’d happily play again. And maybe next time, I won’t die quite as fast.
Tyler Mason · Mar 09, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game was harrowing, but your actions can’t change the narrative that much – she is doomed from the first bad decision she makes. All you can do is stop her from going too far, or let her freefall.
Tessa Kaur · Feb 20, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s not a perfect game. Loretta has an appropriate soundtrack, shot through with dissonance that yanks you out of the moment. The puzzles are obtuse to a fault at times. I hated being in the shoes of the hungover detective who was too hangdog about how worthless he was to do his job appropriately (though my discomfort in that means how well the scene was executed).

Trailers & Screenshots:
Loretta is a housewife. Walter is a writer. Dragged from the glitz and glamor of 1940s New York City and thrust into a dilapidated farmhouse in the rural south, both are unsuccessful, struggling with their finances, and straining in their relationship. But when Loretta learns of her husband’s infidelity and a lucrative life insurance policy filed in his name, a grisly plan takes root. It is up to you to decide how far she should take it.
Become an accessory to Loretta’s crimes as she navigates a nightmare of her own creation. Engage with the locals through branching dialogue options, discover the right tools for putting an end to nosy neighbors, recover from the betrayal of a love gone wrong, and ultimately decide how Loretta’s story should end. Will you walk the high road and move on, or will you serve those who have wronged you their just desserts?
