- Overall, Forgotten Land is just a great time with a mix of genuine challenge and simple fun. Like most Kirby games, I don’t think Forgotten Land is going to set the world on fire but it’s really good. Like a favorite blanket, Kirby is always a joy to come back to and I’m really glad I played Forgotten Land.
Anthony Mann · May 03, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - And in that context, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a perfect title. It likely won’t win over those who have already explored Odyssey’s vast platforming landscapes, but this is an ideal first step for those entering the world of gaming – or for those who simply want a relaxed co-operative experience with a healthy sprinkling of Nintendo magic.
Simon Reed · Apr 17, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Living in a time particularly stricken with conflict, it was a real comfort to have a bright world with easier gameplay to return to. It’s by and largely solidified itself as one of my absolute favorite Kirby games to date, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to just have some pure fun. If 3D platformers are the future of Kirby, then I’m in for the ride.
Natalie Schmidt · Apr 12, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land takes the Kirby series into 3D in a wonderfully designed, bursting with personality adventure. It might not be the most challenging game you ever play, but there are enough secrets in the game to leave anyone going back for more. Its beautifully designed environments, characters and overall humor make Kirby and the Forgotten Land a game that leaves a smile on your face.
Jesse Taylor · Apr 09, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land is far better than I could have imagined. Its ruined yet beautiful world carries a tone of wonder and amazement throughout the entire game, and HAL Laboratory undoubtedly stuck the landing while transitioning the series’ gameplay into 3D. Though I am disappointed in the small number of copy abilities, the game’s issues are mere bumps in the road compared to its many triumphs.
Matthew Zawodniak · Apr 09, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land hangs its hat on a single peg: cuteness. I cannot ever get over how cute Kirby games can be, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the cutest yet. Most of the enemies are adorable, even when they’re trying to be fierce. Kirby just oozes cuteness from every pore, be it inhaling an enemy and expanding with his full tummy or accidentally sucking up a sleeping enemy and taking a nap himself.
Oliver Shellding · Apr 07, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land stays away from the full-on open-world formula, opting instead for a structure more akin to Super Mario 3D World, and is all the better for it. And with the welcome addition of a little more challenge than some of Kirby’s previous games, there’s plenty to keep you coming back to this one.
Shaun Roopra · Apr 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land is an important step forward for the franchise, even if it may still be a bit too linear. The Mouthful ability and the full transition to 3D are two features that should be here to stay, as they open up the gameplay possibilities considerably.
Andrew McMahon · Apr 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Kirby and the Forgotten Land does pretty much everything it needs to as the pink puffball’s first 3D adventure. Clever level design and the appropriately named Mouthful Mode show that Kirby’s floating, sucking ways can work in a 3D space. Forgotten Land might not reach the highest heights of Nintendo’s other first-party adventures, but it definitely shows that Kirby can hold his own in a three-dimensional arena.
Michael Goroff · Apr 04, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is exactly the sequel we'd expect. Despite the move to 3D, the gameplay is instantly familiar. While nothing here is anything close to groundbreaking or even innovative, it is a comfortable, casual, all-ages adventure worth taking.
