- While the price might be asking a lot for a game that can now be purchased for significantly less on consoles - or even downloaded on Xbox as part of Game Pass! - whoever was in charge of the Kingdom Hearts III PC port has delivered not just a fantastic PC version of the game, but one that is sure to become the benchmark for Square Enix PC ports going forward - for good or ill.
James Galizio · May 07, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All in all, the Kingdom Hearts franchise coming to PC is something that fans have been looking forward to for a long time. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a great port that will delight both new and dedicated fans of the series.
Marina DelGreco · Apr 22, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The Kingdom Hearts franchise launching on PC really couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been jonesin’ to replay the series, and the addition of Melody of Memory makes it all the better. Do you need to need to snag all of the games if you already have them on other consoles? No, you don’t, but having them available on PC lets you have a backup should your console bite the dust.
Sam Watanuki · Apr 10, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Speaking as the nit-picky Kingdom Hearts fan that I am, Kingdom Hearts isn’t perfect. And, if you’re as into the series as I am, you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about for yourself. However, from an objective standpoint, all of my issues are fairly tame. Kingdom Hearts III is a phenomenal action/RPG experience filled to the brim with content, and it won’t take long for anyone who decides to sit down with it to see that. It’s not perfect, no. But it’s really, really good — and it has me very excited to see what the next chapter in this series has in store for us.
Kenny McKee · Feb 24, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - To be fair, I’m not sure exactly who Kingdom Hearts is for. Yes it’s fun and yes it has been visually impressive ever since it’s PS2 days. But while the combat is original, it’s always been too tailored for success and lacks a real challenge, and it seems that it’s meant for younger players. On the other side, saying the plot is overwhelmingly complicated would be an understatement. On paper, it seems way too complicated for younger fans to even remotely comprehend and that it’s more meant for the older audience. There are several fan theories and plot summaries online made by those deeply committed, and I highly recommend looking into them if you want to alleviate the strain and head scratching. Despite this, the games have always been fun, and Kingdom Hearts III is the most fun of them all. Beautiful, massive world explorations, entertaining sidequests, not to mention oddly addicting handheld throwback retro games to play on your Gummiphone, there is a lot to do in this game. Turn your mind off and don’t question the plot, just let it run its course. As much as I enjoyed the game, for closure purposes, I can only hope this is the end of franchise’s run, but at the end of the game, the door has been left wide open for more, and undoubtedly confusing, possibilities.
Baylen Marston · Feb 20, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Combat quickly grows tiresome to its repetition and sometimes unintuitive design, the core story is nearly impossible to follow for newcomers and only does the very bare minimum to fill players in. If you’re a Kingdom Hearts veteran, your heart may burst with joy with where the story goes but newcomers will find their brains working in overdrive trying to keep up with all the nonsensical jargon invented by Square Enix.
Cade Onder · Feb 19, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Kingdom Hearts 3 has been a long time coming, leading some fans to wonder if it would ever finally get there. The long wait proved to be well worth it though, with Tetsuya Nomura ending the Xehanort saga in strong fashion. Though probably the easiest game in the series, even on Proud Mode, the gameplay is better and more fluid than it has ever been alongside some of the best worlds the series has ever had to offer.
Dean James · Feb 14, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Kingdom Hearts III is a great game. Sure I had my issues with it, but the overall package is jam packed with things to do, a fun story, and a flashy and deep combat system all wrapped around a fun RPG. Fans of the series have nothing to fear here, and even newcomers can jump in and enjoy their time with it without having too much of a problem following the story, and even if the story is not your thing, the combat will keep action fans and RPG players entertained throughout. This is the best Kingdom Hearts game to date.
Drew Leachman · Feb 13, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Though I guess the weirdest time of all is that we live in a world where Kingdom Hearts III is, well… out. Never has a game seen this many release jokes this side of Half-Life 3. Yet, Kingdom Hearts III is in our hands. More importantly, it’s great. Sure the story will never be anything other than convoluted nonsense (and do I want it to be?), but I’m having a tough time thinking of a video game that has just been so solidly fun to play in quite a while.
Samuel Guglielmo · Feb 12, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Kingdom Hearts III is a marvel of presentation filled with heart and charm, but might not quite be the dramatic finale that fans have waited half their lives to see come to a close.
