- Though I prefer to indulge in quick-paced gameplay with split-second reactions, Jusant is a nice break from hectic combat and encourages you to just climb. It sounds dull, it sounds boring, but it works perfectly; even if it doesn't sound your type, the fact that you're reading this could be the proof that it might just be a hidden masterpiece for you, too.
Artura Dawn · Dec 06, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If there is any criticism to be made of Jusant, it's that developer Don't Nod – no stranger to over-egging the narrative pudding at times – couldn't hold its tongue, filling the beautifully spartan climb with diaries, logs, and otherwise unnecessary lore. But the game's focus on its core climbing mechanics, and some of the finest art direction we've yet seen, still make this an essential journey.
Josh Wise · Dec 06, 2023 Reviewed onRead full review - Even when it frustrated me at times, though, Jusant consistently had me wanting to keep going up. Whether it was uncovering another bit of lore about this world, seeing what beautiful scenery was over the next ridge, or simply the joy of finding that next handhold, Jusant kept me engaged from start to finish. A sequel that offers a longer experience which better utilizes its abilities could be even better but anyone wanting to see how compelling a game can be without needing to bring combat into the equation should absolutely check it out.
Andrew Thornton · Nov 16, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Jusant is a thoughtful climbing puzzler with exceptional storytelling that makes for an understated triumph in a year full of high-profile game releases.
Alyssa Hatmaker · Nov 11, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Jusant is a bit hard to be included in a genre, but truth to be told it does not really need to. It is a breath of fresh air, an artistic production that is not scared to break away from the norm and the standard to walk its own path. It has its challenges, and the gameplay is simple yet interesting enough to keep you hooked. Jusant’s mysteries are never completely revealed, thus joining a select club of games that stir up an emotional response from their players.
Cosmin Vasile · Nov 08, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Jusant is a distinct adventure with striking presentation, simple yet fun climbing mechanics, and an engaging atmosphere that's worth the hike.
Alex V · Nov 08, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Jusant is a gorgeous and relaxing puzzler with well-design climbing mechanics that evolve over the course of a very tight five-hour runtime.
Adam Ryan · Nov 01, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Jusant is wonderful and never fails to impress. It’s at its best when it’s offering you the quiet, contemplative moments, teasing passed on civilisations with its very apt environmental storytelling. Offering climbing gameplay that is more focused on fluidity and responsiveness than gruelling or trivial makes for a smoother and more enjoyable experience, bolstering the cinematic and picturesque world painted. Basking in the glow of the sunlight, reaching a peak and in turn being greeted with beautiful pieces of music that feel almost like they’re cheering you on… they entirely more than make up for the brief moments the game overshares in its otherwise mystique nature. At the end of it all, Jusant is worth the climb, remaining all peaks and no valleys.
Charlie Kelly · Nov 01, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If you’ve enjoyed stylish adventures like Rime and Journey in the past, you’ll undoubtedly enjoy Jusant. What it lacks in narrative it makes up for in environmental design: this is a world teeming with imagination and signs of life.
Kim Snaith · Oct 31, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Jusant mixes rock climbing and platforming with a calm atmosphere and an interesting story. It's an unexpected, but still welcome, surprise from DON'T NOD.
