- The Nintendo Switch version of Istanbul is a fantastic board game adaptation. It takes some time to figure out exactly how it works, but it’s worth putting the time into as you’ll be rewarded with an engaging and entertaining experience. After failing a few times, I soon started to get the hang of it! It’s colourful, the music and sound effects are great, and it’s definitely something I’ll be pulling out when my friends are around. Istanbul: Digital Edition a must-buy for any board game enthusiast.
Becca Smith · May 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Istanbul: Digital Edition is scrappy. It’s a slightly half-hearted port of a portable game, and a lack of console optimisation can occasionally make it feel like picking up M&Ms with chopsticks. The source material, the board game, also suffers from a lack of variety, so the problems don’t only lie with the port.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
In Istanbul, you lead a group of one merchant and four assistants through 16 locations in the bazaar. At each such a location, you can carry out a specific action. The challenge, though, is that to take an action, you must move your merchant and an assistant there, then leave the assistant behind (to handle all the details while you focus on larger matters). If you want to use that assistant again later, your merchant must return to that location to pick him up. Thus, you must plan ahead carefully to avoid being left with no assistants and thus unable to do anything…
